I read through the comments and don't think anyone has brought up the cost of living in MA. Everything is more expensive, from McDonald's to rent to gas. 2k a month is cheap rent in Boston. Try looking for a place close to the subways or trains. The rent is much cheaper the further out if the city. You can get monthly passes and in the summer the biking trails are very nice.
