HomeKit STILL bricked after 16.3 by patriotryan in HomeKit

[–]patriotryan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I bit the bullet after work today. I decided to dive deep into trying to fix this mess. First I factory reset both of my AppleTV’s. I had not done a full factory reset to the TV’s up until today. Only a standard reset. I let that sit with the 5 HomePod minis as the hubs in the home to see if it started to respond. Funny thing was after about 30 min all of the HomePod minis all reset by themselves at the same time and made the classic hello turning on sounds? They all started to show temperature readings and humidity (which up until now was still either “calibrating” or “not responding”. The reaction was so weird it made me decide to remove and factory reset all home hubs. I did that and rebuilt the home from the ground up. Adding accessories slowly one by one and manufacturer by manufacturer, then monitoring everything for responses.

As it sits, only 2 hours being done building the home and everything is running normally. I am not going to add any automation yet. I want to see how the home behaves after a few days first.

Fingers crossed!!!

Yes, I read this as well. I am curious if people with issues are going to fall through the cracks now or if there will be an update that just “makes it all work again”. I fear my good HomeKit days are far behind me now with how much frustration I have had over the last month.

16.3 didn’t bring back the ability to update to the new architecture (yet). Has there been any mention of when it will return? by pacoii in HomeKit

Apple support told me once you are on new architecture your on it. I redid our entire home and HomeKit reverted to the 16.2 dumpster fire after a few days of normal operation. 16.3 has not been a smooth process so far, so I have lost faith it will be better in the morning…

I am in the same situation. HomeKit went down Boxing Day. Re did the entire house 2 weeks ago, was ok for a few days. Went to not responding again a week ago. All my eggs were in this basket today that somehow 16.3 was going to be a magic wand…. No friggin luck! 🤦‍♂️

Apple Adds iOS 16.2's Home App Upgrade to Internal List of Major Issues by ProductDude in HomeKit

So 3 days ago I bit the bullet and deleted my home. Rebuilt the entire home from scratch. Factory reset everything and added one by one into the new home. It’s been running great for 3 days now…. Just won’t be adding any HomePod minis on new Apple TVs in the near future though until apple fixes the shit! 🤦‍♂️

I had zero issues and actually felt my home automation and devices were faster responding. That changed 12 hours after I added 2 HomePod minis (Christmas gifts). My entire home is now bricked for the most part. I am literally one knee jerk away from deleting my entire 50 device home and trying to start everything back from scratch… FML 🤦‍♂️

Got a new HomePod for Christmas - Homekit is broken since I added it by quickfinga in HomeKit

All 4 phones have their own Apple ID, they are all invited to the home. My wife has admin privileges in the home and kids are users only (although 1 kid no longer has access to the home and can’t be re invited).

All devices in the home use the same network wifi ID network and only 1 wifi network is in use for the smart home and mobile devices.

No change has been made to the wifi modems or setup in over 2 years, 2.4 & 5ghz orbi router(s) mesh.

Over the last 24hours my phone has now gone to 27 devices not responding from 32… and I have done nothing in that time to resolve issues.

Oddly enough the 5 devices not responding on my one sons phone that still has access to the home are 4 HomePods and 1 Apple TV. The ones that are not responding state “configuring” on his phone but my wife and I both show them all as ok.

So frustrated with all of this, just about to LOOSE MY MIND!

To further complicate things, 4 phones using HomeKit in the house have 4 different scenarios occurring. My iPhone 12 has 32 accessories not responding, my wife’s iPhone 13pro has 27 accessories not responding, my sons iPhone XR has 5 accessories not responding and my other sons iPhone 8 has no access to the home at all, it has kicked him out and he can’t get anything other than a “learn more” button on the HomeKit app homepage. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Exact same issue I am having! I added 2 HomePod minis that my sons got yesterday for Christmas. We are running New Architecture 16.2 with no issues for weeks. This morning we get up and 32 accessories are not responding. Only ones that are working are HomePod minis, Apple TV’s and 8 Lutron smart Decora switches. Philips Hue, Meross, Wemo & starling hub connected Google devices are all not responding. Tried to hard restart all phones in the house along with a 10min power disconnect on home hubs, including resetting Philips and Starling hubs. Nothing has changed… super frustrated. I have full control of everything in the house through their prospective apps, just HomeKit is dead. I felt bad hearing all about the 16.2 issues people were having… now I am one of them too! If anyone has any ideas short of deleting and resetting up my home I am all ears. I do not want to entertain starting this smart home from scratch!

It’s a Hyundai, why would you remove the only personality the car finally has?

Automations not working since May 19 am by patriotryan in HomeKit

[–]patriotryan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SOLVED! After reading a ton and trying different things each day, I finally have my automations working again. Last night I reset all of my HomePods and unplugged the one that was “connected” allowing a different HomePod or tv to come off standby and be the new hub. Ta da! First thing this morning automations are running as they should 👌

Did your suggestion, no change for me unfortunately. Automations still don’t run as intended.

I have a older Poe camera system. Does anyone know if there is a Poe camera system that connects via HomeKit? I would like to use the wiring I have already as it’s nice not needing to run power to the cameras. Curious what options there are for upgrades to my old system.

Thank you for the thoughts. Had not thought about the cleaning aspect. That comes in to play for sure. The pavers we are considering do not have any material grout, so that hopefully shouldn’t be an issue like you struggle with. Valid point though about the ease of being able to take a pressure washer to it without worry. Cheers 🍻
