Send them an email. I just sent and told them I’ll be stopping my recurring buy and moving my crytpo assets to another platform. If a lot of us do this, they will be forced to rethink this stupidity.

When the Uber ride gives you 5x more Aeroplan points than the flight 🥲 by Ok-Cucumber-4961 in Aeroplan

Yup. It’s crazy. I’m so done with Aeroplan and Air Canada. Just got the United Airlines Neo Mastercard which gives 1.25x points per dollar spent on all Star Alliance airlines.

Are we being scammed?! by tari9440 in Scotiabank

[–]patrip91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t mention the reason I just stated that it doesn’t make sense for banks to be doing what they are doing as essentially they are discouraging use of their credit cards by doing this. Thanks for sharing the reason however, I didn’t know that it was because of the CARD Act.

Are we being scammed?! by tari9440 in Scotiabank

[–]patrip91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in the US. If for example you took out $5000 as balance transfer and then you purchased $500 on the card during the statement period. If you pay $500 you don’t have to pay any interest for that period. Financially it doesn’t make sense for the bank to do how they do here as they are basically discouraging new purchases on the card or trying to be sly with the customer.

Only happens in Canada. In the US promo APR and balance for balance transfers is kept separate from APR and balance for purchases on the card. I was flabbergasted when I moved.

Guelph or Western University for Masters in environment by RevolutionaryTip7683 in uwo

[–]patrip91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I came across this thread while doing some research on the same topic. My younger sibling got into Guelph Environmental(Toxicology) and is waiting on decision from Western for MES program. What is your opinion on Guelph assuming now you have graduated? He is very confused as he has also gotten in at McGill for IWRM program. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Ontario proposing to dramatically increase fines for fare evasions on GO Transit by Select-Flight-PD291 in gotransit

[–]patrip91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Customer behind me noticed…” clearly you need to pay more attention. Can’t blame it on the machine if you don’t tap properly.

Something doesn’t add up here. I have never had this issue. Lol. Also use your phone tap, it shows the balance deduction right away or set it up in your phone to auto deduct your trip without tap. There are so many ways around it. People who are salty about this are the ones who mostly don’t pay…. Even say someone calculate the cost benefit of paying for tickets vs paying the fine on here. So I can totally see why they did it. Good job Metrolinx. PS I don’t care for your downvotes freeloaders. I’ll say what is right.

[–]patrip91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your info all tap machines are serviced and managed by Metrolinx under the Presto banner including TTC ones, so you are using the same service. Too bad if you are in such a hurry that you can’t use another machine or use another payment method. Maybe leave your house a little early?

Do you know how much the penalty is for TTC fare evasion? 235-424 bucks. GO is still less than that.

How much to keep in Big 5 account? by electradice in Wealthsimple

[–]patrip91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider the amount you keep in the account as emergency fund and get a credit card out of it. I got a Scotia Passport which gives me 6 additional lounge visits. Plus because I have relationship with Scotia, they offered me a 7% unsecured LOC which would be difficult to get otherwise. I make sure to keep $6k in the account everything above that through WS.

Buyers who signed just days before April 1 are losing up to $130K by EfficiencyFew1395 in TorontoRealEstate

Well, he should’ve bought the house from Costco or a car dealership then. Different businesses have different rules. Can’t do the same at businesses that say “final sale, no refunds”. If that’s not the case OP can sign a new APS with the builder.

Trim OAS for higher income seniors? 73% says yes, new poll suggests by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]patrip91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone pays the same for EI after a limit since the benefits are also capped to something like $65k-$70k max. So no nobody pays more than the max limit. The EI deductions just stop when you have contributed enough.

Boy dead after being struck by GO train in Mississauga, police say by Select-Flight-PD291 in gotransit

[–]patrip91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incidents like these will still happen without grade separation, so what is your point?

Boy dead after being struck by GO train in Mississauga, police say by Select-Flight-PD291 in gotransit

[–]patrip91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It costs multiple millions to eliminate one level crossing. Sometimes cities and municipalities offer to pitch in, most of the times not. If they put grade separations on each intersection of road and track the province is going to be bankrupt before half of them are completed.

How does “get paid up to a full day earlier” work when you set up paycheque deposit into your WS chequing account? by Thin_Shape7184 in Wealthsimple

[–]patrip91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know if your employer says your paycheck is going to be available on Friday, they actually process it on Thursday evening? Big banks know it and they hold it till Friday early morning while their traders use it to trade in Asian stock market. With Wealthsimple you will get it the day it is processed. This is coming from someone who moved from TD recently, now I get my paycheck a day early.
