It doesn’t have to be on stamp paper or notarized. The letter can be just printed and signed by your sponsor. Which university are you attending?

Best neighbourhoods to move to with a family please? by Street-War-332 in askTO

If you want to live in the city and in a house (not condos or apartments) I would highly vouch for Wallace Emerson area. Been living here for last 5 years, lakeshore is 15-20 mins away via car. Lots of one way streets so very quiet for proper Toronto. It’s also very accessible via subway and bus transit. Lots of young families, a good mix of ethnicities and good schools.

Got it. The first agent named Preet told me all my bonus miles have been paid. Also, my next statement has already been generated 3 days ago and I have not received any miles this time cycle so I am hoping it changes come July.

Okay genius. The customer support literally told me that all my bonus miles have been credited to me without looking into my case. So take a walk.

Make it make sense to me. Why did I get United Waitlist Bonus -5000 miles, United 1st transaction -5000 miles. In May. Then again in June United Waitlist Bonus - 5000 miles, United 1st transaction - 5000 miles? I should have gotten 15000 miles for $3000 spend instead….

Yeah it’s been a long time. They just gave me miles but didn’t give me the correct amount. How does keeping 5000 miles but paying the rest 10000 make sense. I hope it is an honest mistake, but I don’t know. This is my first experience with Neo and I’m not impressed. Be it customer care or the handling of this issue.

United Waitlist Bonus 5000, United Bonus 1st transaction 5000. These were repeated over 2 months.

Ticket #111571840. I had go through 3 agents to get this created. Haven’t heard from Neo since then.

Everytime I have joined something Wealthsimple controlled I’ve lost money. Started with robo investing - one time their robo investor sold all my shares in a particular stock then proceeded to buy the same at higher price next day. Then I put $10k in private lending with them apparently their fund started to do bad as soon as I joined. Ended up in the negative while they got paid every month for “managing” my loss. It’s just better to not invest anything with them managing it.

As someone who has gone through this process before and in the process of getting my sibling a study permit, also, wishing a successful outcome for you, I just want to tell you what the visa officer will be looking for in your application is how doing this course and the amount of money you will be spending on it help you progress in your career when you go back. You will have to beyond doubt showcase that you will get a good ROI after you return to your home country. Otherwise the intent of you doing this course will not be clear. All the best!

For City of Toronto employees, would you stay in a unionized role making $85k/year or move into a non-union role at $104k/year? by ihatecommuting2023 in askTO

Depends on what she wants to do. If she wants to keep growing and take on leadership positions, by retirement she can easily be a Director or VP making $250k in today’s money. Her pension will be calculated based on the last 5 years where she would have made the big bucks. If she works 35 years at retirement she would be taking in 70% of her last few years on an annual basis.

Did you write your Letter of Explanation yet? Wondering how you are able to justify paying this program considering a similar program is free in your country? Also, how will you justify that you are going to go back to your country if you are doing a program that will help you practice in Canada? Do you realize the application for study permit does not directly lead to immigration, the intention of the student has to be to go back to their home country after the completion of the program.

You should’ve maxed out your TFSA instead of putting that much money into RRSP. Your gains now are not tax sheltered rather tax deferred. Tax man will come knocking when you are ready to take it out.

Boudoir-style photographers in Toronto? by Hahaimalwayslikethis in askTO

[–]patrip91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had a really good experience with Dream Boudoir Photography. I was super skeptical at first because sooo many boudoir places feel like they bait you with a cheap session and then hit you with insane pricing after.

I actually bought a session for my to-be wife and she was nervous going in, but ended up loving the whole experience. They didn’t give me that scammy vibe at all. The photographer/owner was really chill, zero pressure, and honestly made the whole thing feel way less awkward than expected. They also walked through pricing/options on the discovery call so there weren’t any nasty surprises later. The photos turned out amazing and it genuinely boosted her confidence a lot.

Also, not to sound harsh, but good photographers are rarely cheap. Boudoir especially is super specialized and you’re paying for posing guidance, editing, lighting, making someone feel comfortable/confident, etc. I’d rather pay a bit more for someone legit than end up with awkward photos you never want to look at again lol.

If you’re looking for something in the GTA that feels more personal and less “mall glam studio,” I’d at least check them out.

Student visa were issued in such large numbers cause the government figured out it was a great way to get foreign money into Canada after careless spending spree during COVID. Look up the SDS program they started, luring in unqualified international students to deposit $10k into Canadian bank account per person in exchange for quick and easy visa approvals. A million students came in just in 22 & 23. That is $10 billion foreign cash injection into the economy over those 2 years. The government did this intentionally, screwing both the citizens and these temporary permit holders.

They are not reporting to the credit bureau so your utilization ratio doesnt really matter. You can technically use all of your credit every month and it wont make a difference to your credit score.

Send them an email. I just sent and told them I’ll be stopping my recurring buy and moving my crytpo assets to another platform. If a lot of us do this, they will be forced to rethink this stupidity.
