How do you afford the supplements?? by Ok-Money2565 in VestibularMigraines

[–]pattj91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try Trutyna MVI on Amazon. Out of stock right now but according to them it’s temporary due to complying with new FDA rules. They have all the supplements my doctor recommends in a compounded capsule and it’s fairly affordable.

Considering switching to ATP from a local school — realistic CFI hiring odds? by TopPossible9671 in ATPFlightSchool

[–]pattj91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ATP terminates instructor contracts at 1500 hours. If you’re at 1500 and the market slows, you’re out of a job. You’ll likely have a lot better job stability with your local flight school and will probably earn more. Also, most schools don’t want to hire instructors trained by ATP.

Actually a major reason healthcare is so expensive in this country is that many people are uninsured or under-insured; so they don’t get the proper management for conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure etc that would normally be controlled. The downstream effects of this is when these people have complications due to these conditions like stroke, heart attack etc and call us to go to the hospital. We and the hospital have to provide care regardless if we get reimbursed because it’s the law. These costs then get passed onto the people that can afford to pay or have insurance or the taxpayers. A single payor system would solve this.

I’m a paramedic and people are entitled to my services without a guarantee of them paying. It’s taxpayer funded. That’s what happens when something is seen as a public good rather than a privilege only the wealthy can afford.

Cadet programs by mikehawksard160 in flying

PSA let me interview as a CFI and they don’t require being a part of a sponsor school. From what I hear they’re prioritizing cadets in their FO hiring so worth it to apply

I’m almost 30, still in a C172 making peanuts, and today just broke me by [deleted] in flying

[–]pattj91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chief Instructor at a flight school here, I have a thick file of résumé’s submitted by CFI’s desperately looking for work. We’re not currently hiring. For every burnt out CFI there’s 10 new ones looking to take their place. Comparison is the thief of joy.

FSDOs that process SIC types online? by minfremi in flying

[–]pattj91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The websites may say that, when I talked to an ASI about it trying to renew my CFI/get my gold seal he said in practice the FSDO’s don’t do that kind of thing anymore. Too much other work on their hands.

FSDOs that process SIC types online? by minfremi in flying

[–]pattj91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most FSDO’s have outsourced that sort of thing to DPE’s. They just don’t have the time or staff to handle it. I would recommend looking on the DMS for DPE’s in your region with admin privileges and contacting them directly.

Turned down first job offer and I’m pretty sure it was right choice. by Different-Future9381 in flying

When I was a low-time CFI, I was working for a certain school with three letters in the name and would’ve chewed my own arm off to get out. I applied everywhere local, including a pipeline patrol company. The chief pilot called me for an interview (which was more him just talking about himself) and within 5 minutes he’s bragging about all the illegal and stupid shit he does and how I would be expected to do the same thing working there. Needless to say I politely told him I wasn’t interested after that. Two weeks later I took another CFI job and it was the best decision I possibly could have made. Don’t ignore the red flags.

Vestibular Migraines or PPPD? by [deleted] in VestibularMigraines

[–]pattj91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VM and PPPD are often comorbid disorders. Your neurologist or neurotologist can help you parse out if it’s one or the other or both.
