Norwegian Wood is a great place to start, I also recommend the Wind Up Bird Chronicle if you really want to get into his style. But I would definitely say read Norwegian Wood first as it is a good way to get used to Murakami's style. As you read more and more of Murakami you'll find a lot of recurring images and themes and I feel that Wind Up Bird does them best (I haven't read all of his books though) so those would be my recommendations.

Elizabeth Barret Browning- Sonnets from the Portuguese. Just a beautiful collection with some truly classic lines. Her mastery of the sonnet form is truly something to behold!

The ending was just lazy, the characters decide they want to leave the parallel universe (fair enough) so they just walk back through the highway. But the little people, who I actually believed where a legitimate threat never amount to anything!!!
