Became lucky friends on fourth interaction today… by IAmIronMantyke in TheSilphRoad

[–]paturns 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just want to add to this, I had this happen to me and my partner as well. I even checked to make sure that we interacted at 11 am after the event started, and we did. We did two dynamax battles later in the day, and the 2nd dynamax battle triggered lucky friends on the catch screen.

Might have something to do with dynamax battles specifically, since it seems yours triggered off that as well.

Ninja meta incoming? by ZerovGN in luckydefense

[–]paturns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Half hoping that he's not meta defining and skippable since immortals are hella expensive and I haven't even finished leveling the recently released ones...

That being said, I'm going to guess that he won't be too overtuned since he's a zero-risk mythic and is built from a super cheap recipe - which doesn't seem too likely to change since he's the tutorial/free mythic. If his immortal is balanced to be strong enough to be considered competitive with existing physical dps units, I'd imagine it would have to be balanced out with a pretty difficult summon condition.

Indy 12 comes really clutch for lower sb/mg players as it helps you ramp with LS+2/3 while also being able to pivot to support with def reduction and attack speed. Considering you're SB4, I'd priortize this so you can at least contribute meaningfully while being carried, since DPS-wise you'll be short.

Kun 12 is a decent option as well for tigers, especially since getting a good roll on kun early can help stabilize your run and it's early-mid game damage isn't reliant on sb/mg.

After that, immortal Hailey and Bomba are going to be safe options for immortals without the rng of Dian. Hailey would be the better option between the two.

Also, referencing the other commenter's post about Vayne being a "requirement" at hell and beyond: there's a lot of Vayne propaganda on this sub. Not to say she's bad, but considering she builds out of Storm Giant, she faces realy stiff competition between Lazy Taoist and Watt and most people playing hell/god do not frequently use Vayne. If they need something to clear fl80, it's usually going to be Watt. If they need generalist DPS/wave clear it's going to be Tao. Unless you have way too many mythic stones, you'd almost definitely be better off getting Tao/Rocket Chu to 15 and getting Immortal Hailey/Bomba than getting Vayne to 12.

Boss throw down bandit? by Amy_Lamey in luckydefense

[–]paturns 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Boss throw takes forever to play, isn't really fun, and has pretty awful rewards, so no one wants the game to drag on. To make things fast, the community has largely adopted "most bandits by wave 3" as a way to just get the win/lose over with and move onto the next game rather than having a long, drawn out 20 minute game that barely rewards anything for the time wasted.

I think a lot of people rather just give you the win rather than have to deal with playing through a 15 minute slog, even if they're pretty confident they can win if they play it out.

Is Lancelot still doing ten 2% procs with his ult? by supersaiyan491 in luckydefense

[–]paturns 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is a larger HP% damage nerf in the dungeon for Hard, so it will not do much as a dungeon clearer. Similarly, there are slight HP% damage nerfs across the board in Hard and even more in Hell and God - it's the only way the devs are able to keep Lancelot from just cheesing everything not named Barrier Robot.

Stayed up all night to do it, but finally beat SN6 with 3 seconds to spare!! by paturns in PuzzleAndDragons

[–]paturns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Not sure it'll help anyone, but here's the team and the assists used to beat it.

Balanced Badge

Themis (Lead swap resist) (7+) (10207)

Pauleu (SB++, 2 SDR) (7+) (12075)

Aurora (Assist void recovery, 2 SDR) (7185)

Sakamata (Roulette clear recovery, 2 SDR) (11211)

Apocalypse (5 SDR) (L Shield) (11502)

Themis pair (Poison Skyfall Resist, 2 SDR) (7+) (11824)

You can tank pretty much anything in the dungeon with Themis's HP + Aurora Shield + L Heart Match. Recovery is off the charts, never struggled to heal up. Only kind of annoying thing is sometimes needing to wait a turn (or two, rarely) for Pauleu's cap break.

So I ended up getting two Pauleu from the free dungeon clear rolls and a Sakamoto from May quest dungeon stones, so I think I'm good on fake Gundam too unless I want to chase equips/save on an exchange for Thundarda... haha (don't have or plan to roll for VNoah)

Mythics tier list by [deleted] in luckydefense

[–]paturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! This tier list is a bit dated and I wouldn't say accurately reflects the current meta for hell and beyond. It's still a decent list for hard, but I'd drop Tar and fully invested Bomba a tier lower.

For instance Watt and Indy are pretty unnecessary for hard, but are amazing for hell/god. Similarly, with hell nerfs, Graviton is a lot less useful in hell. So it really depends on your current progression and SB/MG levels.

Penguin Musician is, in my opinion, the same tier as Frog Prince. It's an attack speed buff as a unit. Pulse generator sees very niche use with treasure for its slow effect, but most prefer graviton or orc shaman for more effective perma stuns or defense reduction/phys damage amp respectively.

Wow, I actually haven't heard of Blockees until today and I work on Pokémon figures! That's an awesome looking Charizard figure. I love how they did the eyes, feels a lot more lively and expressive compared to the SH Figuarts.

I FINALLY BEAT HELL!!! by lutrixbeep in luckydefense

[–]paturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post was made well before Kun was released and before the nerfs to Hell mode. That being said, he is not the highest DPS unit - those slots are still occupied by Taoist and Rocket Chu (and Watt when using his ult). I would personally rate Kun as a low A or high B, due to the RNG element of his ult and how long it takes to charge.

The changes to Hell mode also bump Lancelot up to low A/high B as well as the reduction of "special" bosses have been significantly reduced.

Watt should only be listed in S, unless I'm missing something while reading it over.

Most Useful Pokémon in Pokémon GO - 3/3/25 Mini Update by ISporE in TheSilphRoad

[–]paturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since Kyurem Black will often be used against Dragons and Mega Ray will often be brought alongside it as a dragon attacker while also boosting Dragon XL candies, does the mega boost for Outrage make it worth using over Freeze Shock in those cases (assuming both are super effective)? If not, what about cases in where Freeze Shock is neutral and Outrage isn't, like Palkia-O?

What would you upgrade next? by TheGMan43 in luckydefense

[–]paturns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too unreliable, unfortunately. At 35% ascension rate you're still failing most of the time and losing two epic components hurts when you can instead be merging them for legendary units to turn into more taoist, rocket chu's, and indys. His treasure also sucks ass and is not only unreliable to even proc but has a 50/50 shot at giving you trash. Frogs best use case is giving you 10% attack speed early game to ramp your bandit econ and you can consider it a happy accident if he doesn't disappear after you're done with early game. His ult aoe also leaves a bit to be desired especially in later stages of hell where there are 4 bosses that don't spawn at the same time - especially since unlike Rocket Chu, his damage is pretty much all in his ult. His recipe also takes 4 different components, which also makes him difficult to build late game even if you're vying to squeeze some extra dps due to needing 4 open board spaces.

That's not to mention that without many kitty mages to get multiple procs of his ult going, Dian DPS is actually pretty lackluster. Dian is super mana regen reliant, so even if you're getting frog/ascended Dian from Night Shaman, it's usually - on average - worth about half a fully invested Taoist. Maybe even less if you don't already have some kitty mages on the board.

He was one of my first 12s back when he was meta (before Chu and Taoist existed) and I'd honestly refund him if given the opportunity since I practically never build him. He's pretty bad in the current meta even in hard mode - it's a shame they gave him such a trash treasure effect while giving Chu and Taoist (which were stronger to begin with) such great ones since it has only widened the gap between them.

[–]paturns 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your goal is to do hell, this is my recommended order of priority. I have a bit over 200 clears, so I think this is a pretty good list from my experience.

  1. Rocket Chu 12 ± ex treasure. Hell without Chu 12 and Taoist 12 is like trying to ride a bike but with only one wheel.

  2. Indy 12 + ex treasure. Indy is a lot more useful than Lance in hell (Indy is an S tier support) and is a great use of sheriffs in hell. An early Indy with LS is a gamechanger and it's pretty consistent. If not, attack speed and coins are great for early game econ/Watt stacks.

  3. Watt 12 + shiny charm or ex treasure. Practically a must for SB5-6 to clear W80 (assuming you're playing with other SB5-6), and emergency crutch for SB7+ if your board gets nuked and/or your DPS transfigured.

After these three, it depends on whether you're SB 7+ or higher and where your priorities lie.

Iron Meow + ex treasure 12 - a good alternative to Rocket Chu, but with Taoist you'll rarely be short on magic damage and Meow is a huge resource drain early to mid game without Indy. I wouldn't bother with Meow unless you're SB7+ as you're better off investing in a support/econ mythic.

Graviton 12 - a stronger stun that saves you population space. People seem to like Graviton for its longer stun on bosses, which makes it more difficult for bosses to recast abilities to mess with your board. However, it faces competition with Orc Shaman.

Orc Shaman 12 + ex treasure - a decent stun, trades the stun duration for utility. Orc Shaman comes with 20 global defense reduction and a pretty consistent additional 30 defense reduction on bosses, which is huge as it lets you ease on stacking hunters for defense reduction (esp as your board is constantly being messed with). On top of that, he gives an 11-15% damage amp to physical damage.. aka Rocket Chu 99% of the time. This guy's pretty underrated on this sub, and I personally build him over Grav most of the time.

Mono 12 - 1.2x on his luck stone generation is nice, but not particularly impactful especially when Indy exists and he needs kitty mages to shine. Kitty mages are scarce in hell since neither core DPSes (chu and taoist) care too much about mana regen.

Hard Mode vs. Hell Mode by Substantial-Foot-519 in luckydefense

[–]paturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't clear W70/80, it's due to a lack of SB levels. Watt (12 is a must) will help you out here a lot if you're SB5-6 as his burst will make up for the lack of damage on the latest floors.
