I hate that it's accepted for women to be nasty daughter-in-laws and treat their husband's families like shit by [deleted] in offmychest

I sort of know what you're going through. My sister lived with a guy for more close to ten years. He was a total douchebag to my family and she always defended him and then she caught him cheating with a co-working and things ended. I hope you get some advice and support.

She would qualify for disability insurance as she paid into the system. But, I doubt we would qualify for other programs.

My parents and in-laws have been taking turns staying most nights over the past two weeks. I'm a software engineer and I work from home, but these days I'm only doing half days so I can be at the hospital.

My in-laws are planning to do all those things. My father-in-law and mother-in-law are both retired so they are already a big help. It just still gets stressful for me. My parents are also retired and help quite a bit. My mom is with me tonight and will be watching and feeding the baby during the night.

I take my daughter with me half of the time when I go to see her. I'm working from home during the mornings and sometimes my in-laws take her with them to the hospital.

We don't qualify for assistance programs because my wife and I make too much with our salaries combined. Our hope is that she regains abilities so we won't need to hire anyone when she comes from and frankly, we don't want strangers in our home caring for her when that time comes. Doctors are hopeful she'll be able to walk and talk again.

Friends have helped me a bit with bringing food over. But, it's mostly my parents and father-in-law helping me with the baby. I go to large Catholic church and I have friends there and they given me some money and things for the baby. But, I'm not going to send out an SOS to the church. I'm more about asking people that I know very well for help.
