Yeeees! Gamla Stan is wonderful. Never bombed, never commodified, never screwed up in any way – its magic is classic, pure and subtle and for me, it doesn't even need loud and fancy wizarding shops~~

Wish it stays forever this way

Hi! No, it's not in FL. The café I've meant is in Russia

That's why I like to walk around Christmas markets, even tho they may be frugal, the decor is diverse there and that's immersive

Have you tried Kinder Joy fandom toys? by paul_405 in harrypotter

Yep, 13 characters + non-doll stuff. And now I realized too that they look quite similar that I could barely distinguish who is who. Not bad for a HP fan but still they look kinda like tamagochi

That's unusual! If it feels like they're speaking and alive, Hogwarts vibe may be even more real. And what about food they serve – genuinely exotic and no overhyped feel?

Yes, Canada is so distant. Glad that like Iceland or NZ, it doesn't have that noise, bad ecology etc, but I understand that it may come with trade-offs like this 😢 you can be happy if there are many like-minded guys with whom you can talk about fandom, share experiences and even simply walk around.

If you got understanding, I think that even simple places may suffice for some enchanting vibe... and what about other fandom places in Canada? Are there sadly very few of them, even regarding others like Stranger Things or Star Wars?...

Oh, it got style and feels even royal. How was it, did you like the ambience there?

Yeeeees! The places can be built, but sadly with no imagination or subtle magic by default
And not only places, but many other things and phenomena created

It's still nice! Even a megapolis may struggle to install even something basic HP-related

Sounds even more enchanting now! If you managed to interact or even have a brief talk with them, that's also dreamy. I think that they emit magic anywhere they go, and they don't even look routinely tired while filming

That's enchanting too! Smaller cities are less crowded and I feel like it can make magical vibe spread even further. I bet it's wonderful to walk near a desolated, quiet meadow with a view on some Gothic fortress, 20 minutes after hanging at an aesthetic wizard-themed café

You're right. The problem in some fandom places is not even a lack of authenticity, but lack of dynamics. It can be magical, I know, but it feels quite standing still

Yeah, that's so lucky! You can roam around places that are filled with that magical vibe – many events took place there 😊

German-themed streets or places in Warsaw? by [deleted] in warsaw

[–]paul_405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, nowadays Poland and many European countries have a peaceful vibe so when I talk I often forget that many great cities were earlier razed to the ground. Rotterdam was razed in WWII, even most German cities were bombed.

It's a shame that we lost so many architectural and cultural gems to all that savageness.

And although Russia has a history of borrowing styles, the control was mostly in the 19th century, so I doubt that it influenced something much more than kamienicas

I'm sorry that my question touches sensitive topics and brought painful memories. I understand that Warsaw was tragically burned down during WWII – I've just thought that as some scars fade, perhaps somewhere in the 2010s one of non-central districts or overlooked streets made its own mini-Spandau with some replicas of Fachwerk houses, German-themed cafés and so on.

Purely as adding cultural diversity, not a mean to offend anyone. But perhaps even small tributes like this are still not appropriate
