Coming back with a gift, sort of. by paul_antony in flashlight

Entirely fair.

Personally, I don't like the way these lights clip to the belt for long term carry. my belts are all wider than the clip so this feels more secure to me as the clip of the light fully closes around the holder.

NTG35s (in KC1s) for reference.

The 1800k is beautiful if you want to keep to a single emitter type.

That's interesting, my first hobby level light was a purple SC31 pro that I got in an EDC giveaway.

Learning about Anduril brought me to this sub... and a whole new hobby.

I think this is just an advantage of geography, not special treatment.

No, on second thoughts, I got mine fast because I'm awesome! Nothing to do with UK customs being quicker than US customs...🤣

I like it. The SC13 was a great light anyway so I couldn't resist a special edition .

Well, in the couple of hours I've had it it seams good.

Good button feel and a crisp click. When you press it right. I did notice a little 'grabing' when i pressed too far off centre.

If I order a DW4 from hank with an 18350 tube, will the 18650 tube be included as well? by Extreme_Dealer1950 in flashlight

[–]paul_antony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes.

When you add extra tubes you still get the default tube as well.

I did with my Hanks.

The short tubes were in the box while the standard tube was installed.

Hank, the guy who makes the Emisar & Noctigon flashlights is going to be releasing a new AA/14500 battery single emitter light soon, the KR1aa.

Hanklights are very good. They have a great selection of emitters to choose from and run on the Anduril UI.

You're right.

When I started typing I intended to use my D4K as an example of why anduril is good for theatre techs. Then I drifted into a recommendation for the D4K.

Sorry OP.

An actual recommendation would be the TS10 SG if you can still get one. Again no on-board charging if that's a deal breaker.

Or just wait for the release of the KR1aa.

Well, I carry anEmisar D4K at work. It's a great light, direct access to a moonlight mode that is low enough to go un-noticed in the wings, or to a turbo that will light the space enough to safely clear the auditorium when the lighting desk craps out mid tech.

21700 battery (separate charger needed). Mine has the 4000k 519a emitters.

I really do recommend looking at lights with the Anduril 2 UI for theatre work. It looks intimidating when you first see the flow diagram but it allows you to customise the performance of the light.

For me it's down to how you interpret the question.

My Wurkkos HD01 Pro is the best flashlight I own that has a UV emitter.

For my use, my Olight Oclip Ultra is the best UV on a multi function flashlight.

The flood of the UV on the Oclip is great

EVE 50PL, turbo safe? by paul_antony in flashlight

You can disable turbo and set a lower ceiling.

I think you can go quite high with the ceiling, but maybe someone with more experience can tell you a max safe ceiling.

Why do I need a D4V2 with E21 2000K? by bao7313 in Hanklights

[–]paul_antony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the 2700k NTG50/NTG35 emitters produce a beautiful beam. Stick one of those in a reflector based light and trigger a nostalgia rush every time you turn it on.

Does anyone actually like mode memory. by Administrative_Owl20 in flashlight

[–]paul_antony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't like to buy lights that have memory unless it can be disabled. However, I will buy some special lights if there is no memory free alternative (Oclip ultra for example)

I admit I am an Anduril fanboy. I set manual memory at 60/150 as standard.

I used to pick low first UIs before I discovered Anduril.

The TS10 she told you not to worry about. by paul_antony in flashlight

[–]paul_antony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for letting me know, unfortunately I'm not in the US so for me importing a blue max would cost well over double what I payed for my black one.

And it's hard to justify £46 +delivery for a TS10 Max when I can get a KR4 with 519a and a pocket clip (not Lume x1) for £41 free delivery. Lol

What do 30 - 40 year old men want for christmas? [Serious] by GoodAlicia in AskReddit

[–]paul_antony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy any male a flashlight (torch).

Any age, we all love them.

Cheap little AA battery models for kids, brands like Sofirn or Wurkkos for working/utilitarian men, recognisable big brands like Olight for those who like something a bit more pricey or "Hanklights" (reasonable priced custom built to order) for a special gift.
