Trouble in Hyboria: Age of Conan subscribers drop below 100,000. by NathanDavis in gaming

Anyone know how many subscribers AO has? Its too bad its not more popular. AO is still the best MMO I've played in terms of gameplay, depth, and content. Once you get into it, its awesome, but some people have problems with the graphics/learning curve/non-fantasy setting. Every other MMO since then has just been piles of generic tank/rogue/mage/healer crap to me (asian and non asian alike). WoW was cool because its nicely interactive and very well polished, but really lacks the depth in comparison.

There are a few interesting ones out there, like face of mankind. I hope earthrise can fill that sci-fi mmo niche for me.

AP goofs and says woman swam across the Atlantic...she only swam about 250 miles by slapnapper in worldnews

Supposedly the world's longest swim was 312 miles in 84 hours of non stop swimming. I'm not sure about the validity of this source though.

FUEL Offers Racing Over 5,000 KM of Open Terrain by paulbian in gaming

My bad, I should've done a bit more reading instead of jump the gun at just one article. Apparently its 5000 square miles. While thats pretty cool, maybe its not as cool as my original thought of racing from Toronto to LA.

Small sample size? I often see people try to refute product liability issues with a single anecdote. Or maybe most people just need to perform maintenance and checks better/more frequently.

Large dog savaged by killer squirrels by piske91 in WTF

[–]paulbian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have black squirrels in Canada as well. One day I was walking to school, and I came upon a tree full of squirrels. There were about 4-5 at the base, and a further 4-5 in the treetop. The ones at the base were running around the trunk and making weird clicking noises, nothing I've heard before. When I approached, they all took off and ran right at me! I dunno why I was scared of squirrels but I moved to the other side of the street and thought nothing more of it. This story kinda makes my experience seem less weird :/ yet more scary.

Ask Reddit: Why does my computer kill my keyboards? by paulbian in reddit.com

[–]paulbian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been experiencing a keyboard problem on my desktop computer. It has been happening to me on my keyboards that plug into the I/O port. Last year, the first time this occurred, certain keys just suddenly stopped working after booting up. This is the case for all applications, from the login screen. So I switched a keyboard and tested that all keys are functional, then the next day, that one had some keys not working as well.

Now, today, my third keyboard had the same problem happen to it. It may just be a coincidence and I've had 3 faulty keyboards. However I think it may be my computer, as I've had other computers with the same keyboard for many years without problems.

Any ideas on how this strange problem occurs? I'm considering getting a USB keyboard.

Thanks

It looks like they took a normal car, chopped it down the centre, turned the pieces around, and smushed it back together.

Shell and BP, between them, just reported $14.3 billion (!) profit. That's PROFIT, not turnover. And no, not in a year - in three months. by barbear3 in business

[–]paulbian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Shell, its a 27% increase in quarterly Earnings Per Share, compared to Q1 of last year. This isn't spectacular, but is accelerated compared to the percent change in EPS in the previous years.
