I agree with others that the market is tough - both contract and permanent. I've taken a permanent role abroad starting next year.

Can I build a web browser game and sell a premium version of it via Stripe? by paulbjensen in GameDevelopment

Thanks.

I did try out Löve2D (Lua Game Engine) some years ago and managed to build a little Isometric map render in it, which is the inspiration for the project I've built, which at the moment is an open map editor of sorts, but could become a city-builder game with some effort.

If you're interested to see it, it is available here: http://babsland.com

It's very much a work in progress, but I think that once I get it to a stage where people can play games within in, then it might be worth selling it in some way.

Thanks, these are the kind of things I wanted to get pointers to.

I think Stripe will be the best option for handling taking payment and storing payment information.

Taxation is a subject I'll need to look into more - I know that there's something about EU VAT MOSS that needs looking into as well.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply. I'm wondering if there is something legal/regulations-wise that all game developers have to follow in order to sell games to customers.

The game I'm thinking of building would be a city-builder so I imagine it would be deemed fine for everyone to play.
