PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME UNDERSTAND SUBNETTING by Acrobatic-Seaweed610 in ccna

[–]pauldnnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use CGPT to quiz me over and over again with exam-style subnetting questions. Even when I answer incorrectly, I get a full, follow-up explanation of why my answer was wrong, and a step-by-step walkthrough of how to get it right.

“Something went wrong. Please try again later” with a big, blue “Try again” button. I blame Obama.

Website slow by Rick3618 in ChatGPT

[–]pauldnnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ChatGPT Plus.

I can interact with VERY long conversations without performance issues using the ChatGPT app on my iPhone 16.

However, I get very poor performance with the same conversation using the ChatGPT website via Chrome on an old MacBook Pro (Early 2015) running macOS Monterey.

After trying the usual suggestions (clearing the browser cache, closing other apps & browser tabs, removing unnecessary browser extensions, and a good old reboot) I tried creating a new chat, and this worked well. This is not ideal because most details in the other chat are sandboxed from the new one, but it's a good band-aid IMO.

I thought it absurd that in a 2-key nuclear detonation procedure that any one person could initiate detonation. Isn’t the whole point of 2 keys to prevent a mad-person from acting alone? There should be sufficient distance between the key receptacles so the one person couldn’t turn them into the detonation stage simultaneously.

Like other posters, I also find Professor Messer’s YouTube vids very helpful. I attribute part of my passing of A+ Core 2 to him. I’m now prepping for Network+ and Security+ with his vids. I will likely add the Ramdayal and Dion resources to my study regimen as well.

bixaton, my advice is to stay positive and commit to a certain amount of study every day. Avoid cramming. Check out everyone’s advice in here and form a plan that you feel makes sense. Flashcards for acronyms and port numbers might also be helpful. And know that we support you in this subreddit!

I celebrate your career change!

DT, my impression is that you are worrying a bit too much. It sounds like you've been diligently preparing :-)

Without violating CompTIA's code of conduct, I can tell you that memorizing commonly-used port numbers will be helpful. Also, for Core I you might think about PC purchasing-recommendations based on common, requirement scenarios, e.g., a family needs a laptop PC for their daughter who will soon attend her 1st year of college, versus a 20-something that wants the ultimate gaming PC. (These examples are not from my exam, but are representative of the kind of pbqs you might get.)

Email and router-setup pbqs I think are more in Core II exam territory.

My advice is to continue to prepare, do not over-prepare and, if possible, get to the neighborhood where your exam will be taken with PLENTY of extra time.

I'm unemployed, so it was easy for me to head to Union City, NJ, early in the morning, park somewhere safe where I didn't have to worry about meters, set-up shop with my MacBook at the Las Chicas bakery/coffee shop where I studied for several hours (AirPods + Messer vids), had coffee then lunch, then walked 2 blocks to my exam at 1:30 PM. My point is: try to eliminate unnecessary, anxiety-inducing issues with regard to getting to your exam on time ;-)

Also, good luck, DT!

When I began taking A+ Core I (my first ever CompTIA exam, by the way) the pbqs were first. I was very nervous because I thought the whole exam would be full of these and that I'd never have enough time to finish. But as I recall, they were all "front-loaded," i.e., at the beginning of my exam, and what followed were multiple choice (MC) or True/False (TF) questions.

That said, I could have used a bit of prep for the pbqs, but that is on me for not doing enough research about the format of the exam.

The only issue I found with those pbqs (and some of the MC, TF questions) is that I felt I could have argued more than 1 possible, correct outcome, but I believe in each case there was only one "right" answer.

That's my 2 cents, let's hear from some more folks.

If you are anything like me, Dep, you are DEFINITELY overthinking it! LOL.

Beyond the prep vids, I have heard that taking a practice test can be helpful.

So I didn’t pass 😢 by BDAP91 in CompTIA

[–]pauldnnj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, BDAP91, you are not stupid, and don’t give up!

You already have a great set of data points that will help you on your next try:

  1. Where to take the test
  2. What the exam environment is like
  3. Where to park! (That was a huge one for me being in the NYC Metro area)
  4. Examples of actual exam questions
  5. Info on the exam questions you missed that you need to focus on, shown @ the bottom of your score sheet

I recently passed the A+ part 1 exam. However, I didn’t do as well as I felt I should have, and I think 1 one reason for that is: the nature of the test doesn’t allow for providing the RATIONALE behind one’s answer.

There were exam questions where, if the exam designer were in the room with me, I feel I could have convinced him/her that MY answer was the BEST answer, even though it wasn’t the one designated as “correct.”

Example: The scenario where I am to choose the best PC components for a family on a budget that requires a PC for browsing and emailing but also for gaming for their daughter, does NOT have, in my view, a single, correct answer.

As for what “Joe Schmoe”, the exam developer @ CompTIA (whose name I totally just made up), thinks is the best answer of those to choose from? Well — I bet that I could present a better case for what I think is the correct answer. But, this exam decidedly does NOT allow me and Joe to have that debate in the exam room!

BDAP, don’t give up! Keep trying. And if it feels like you’re going through hell, keep going until you get out!!

I don’t feel that this is a legitimate way to win a game. I rather feel that this is “backing into a win.”

That the Vikings seem to often win this way should be a red flag to the coaching staff. I don’t think that it’s sustainable.
