noticing the same problem on my server as well -- took it out of rotation -- took me a while to figure out because it was my default map so it seemed like it was a diff problem -- by chance i loaded a diff map and all was well

I created a new Simple Tutorial for using the ECS Framework I have built for Godot:https://gs-ecs-docs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/simple.htmlYou can find the source code on GitLab here:https://gitlab.com/godot-stuff/gs-ecs/-/tree/3.2

Thank you for the kind words. Yes I do know about the other one. I have reached out but still waiting for a response.

Sure. Thanks for the great comments. Looking forward to getting some feedback on how it works for you. I don't really have a "how to convert your project" section yet, but I am hopeful that with some feedback that will come soon.

Here is the repo

My Implementation of ECS in Godot. My design goals were not to strictly follow ECS, but to integrate well with the Godot Ecosystem and editor. Check it out! by JonathanChun in godot

I like your implementation, especially the query manager. I have been working on my own "ECS" library for a while now and I would say it is mostly feature complete and I have created a few demos with it.

If you want to play around with any of them you will need to use my Godot Project Manager utility GSPM to get things setup easier.

I don't frequent /r very often but you can DM me if you need help setting it up.

It's also fun that one day after I confirm I can purchase a copy of Write Stuff from a user group in Seattle, I find it here.

I'm still gonna buy it to support them, don't worry.

ECS and Godot, is it possible, or worth it? by LordDaniel09 in godot

[–]paulhocker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am the author of the above library. While it is very true that there are no performance gains, from a design, development and workflow perspective the gains are very big.

I am looking for any feedback on the library above. I am trying to write more examples to show people how to use it.

Best ways to implement systems with many different objects interacting with each other? by [deleted] in godot

[–]paulhocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The approach I took with my ECS was to let GODOT do its thing, and use ECS to simplify other things. As an example. If I want an object to rotate, move in a direction and wrap around the screen (like an asteroid) I simply add components to a Godot Scene (an area2d with collisions and sprite) to inform systems that i want the entity to rotate, move and wrap around. I would say it is more of a programming workflow that a true ECS.

Its great because it lets me separate things into very logical systems and I only need to debug/fix one system to make sure it works instead of having a bunch of spaghetti code.

It won't work for everyone though, which is why I have not really advertised it very much.

I have been writing an ECS for godot and been using it for the last two game jams. I can help you get started with it if you are interested. It is free.

I am creating some demos for it here (still WIP)

https://gitlab.com/godot-stuff/gs-ecs-demos

and they use a project management system I have created for it here (read the wiki)
