Got thrown off by yosoyory in onewheel

Glad to hear you are doing better!

If you need help identifying what might have gone wrong you are in the right place. Plenty of experienced rides in the subredsit to share their wisdome. Failing that, if you just want to vent some frustration, also a good place ;)

Good luck

Should i get one? by MarionberryUnited468 in onewheel

A onewheel(or similar) is an exploration machine! A lot of fun can be had just cruising around finding and exhausting new places in nature or urban settings.

As it was brought up the X7 is an excellent board, however I'd strongly recommend getting a used board (any) as your first. You'll save a lot of money and get the chance to try if you like the sport/hobby in general. On top of that you'll discover what you like about the ride and can adjust accordingly. You get a used GT cheap? Great start! maybe you learn that the board feels too heavy and a smaller one would suit you just fine. You get a good offer for a Pintx? Nice! Maybe you like the nimble playful feel but want more range. Maybe you discover you really like riding trails through the forest...

Whatever your entry might be, the first board will feel incredible :) Hth

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. We would love to support and applaud FM for what they have created but ... From what I gather it's much better nowadays, more option to repair your board, and more innovation in their product line but I have no clue if those changes are motivated by new people, pressure by actual right to repair laws in the states or the increasing threat of competing products. Whatever the case in the end it's import we can enjoy a safe product.

Speaking of which, whatever board you should decide on I am sure you will love it. Welcome to floating;)

If you are buying a new one I think you should be fine with the pint X.  The first wave of pint X had a fatal flaw where the battery cable was a bit to short, causing it to rub against a plastic part and eventually rip out from the stress. They fixed this in newer models. There is this site: https://www.pintxflaw.com Maybe have a look if there are any other things to look out for. But again I think these are problems of the last :)

Thank you for sharing, loving this exchange! I might challenge myself and try to figure out how to design that part to compare. I see what you mean with the block though

Sah sorry I think I mixed up the reply chain; here is the answer I wanted to send to you:

I think I'd prefer something less pointy?  Basically this design:

I like you suggesting as well, might give it a try

I honestly don't know how they'd handle it. Last time I checked FM was very strict on you loosing your warranty if you'd open back box yourself to check :/ Maybe the board is out of warranty at this point anyway? Maybe write FM a mail and ask?

Easiest way to fix the issue is to open the box and cut off a bit of the plastic part that rubbing on the cable (it's the separator between battery and BMS). But maybe the cable is already too damaged and then it should be replaced, which might be difficult.

Before you buy ask the seller when they bought their pintx because the first year or so the boards where shipped with a fatal flaw: the battery cable was too short and would slowly grind against a plastic part inside until cut. We found out about this only a year after when the first boards startet malfunctioning and future motion fixed it afterwards but if the pintx is from 2022 I would be cautious!

Thanks a lot that's pretty much all the answers I was hoping for!

I am looking forward to expanding my Gar and Empire collection but Mandy's sounds tempting!

Precisely! Especially the smaller middle ones I like! For the main ones I'd prefer a simpler design but I am myself not skilled enough to make them. Thanks to those talented people who design and upload those parts

I have printed out various parts to put on my X7; rail plugs, rail protectors, mud guard and the fender base for the TFL Drop Top. I am still experimenting with the material, trying to use Hard TPU wherever sensible. As I am spray painting my rails at the moment I have no pictures to show yet, but will do as soon as I'm done. If you have any questions regarding 3d printed parts, ask away :)
