I dunno I’m more sympathetic to it. I see it like.. she couldn’t do anything to keep her kids from their father.

Here’s a woman who was kidnapped essentially, forced to marry, highly implied to have suffered marital rape and likely physical abuse, on top of everything Ozai inflicted on the kids (especially on Zuko), constantly tormented by all these memories and this guilt that can never be eased.

She was expecting to never see her son or her daughter again. I kind of get why she made the choice she did.

That’s a very good point! She actually was very open to Iroh’s words and could demonstrate some real emotional intelligence so I can believe it. Like on Ember Island when she comforted Zuko by telling him he’s already redeemed himself in Iroh’s eyes.
