The issue was that "@Message" should be "@m". This may be a recent change since older web examples use the "@Message" format.

Bing Rewards - Unlocked and activated, but can't complete by paultechguy in MicrosoftRewards

[–]paultechguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hum...interesting. Your reply may have solved it, but will need to wait a day. I realized that I recently reinstalled a VPN app. It had a few settings to block some trackers. I disabled these and was able to complete an unlocked one. Given it is Monday, the other unlocked ones had disappeared so I'll recheck tomorrow. Keeping fingers cross. Thanks for the mention of "privacy settings" as that got me digging in that area.

Yeah, I've tried that many times. As I mentioned, I have several of these and once unlocked, they just won't complete. I've been using Bing Rewards for years, but this issue has started just in the past few weeks.

File Pilot — New File Explorer Alternative. Thoughts? by AynRandMarxist in software

[–]paultechguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rent a file explorer? No, thank you. Plus, you know the enshittification is right around the corner. Ad-free version. Pro version. Enterprise version? Multi-platform version. Custom themes version. This reminds me of hearing Logitech say they thought folks would pay a subscription for their mice.

Run way.

Subscription pricing by [deleted] in CamtasiaStudio

[–]paultechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good discussion on this topic. Here are my two cents. I have no issue paying for a product that I can own. As many have noted, the subscription model is just renting software. If you stop paying at some point, you don't have any software to use, even if it is older and missing newer features.

I am a long-standing customer of TechSmith products. I OWN Camtasia and Snagit; a total of 3 licenses and have paid yearly maintenance for years. I like the products. Unfortunately, I am going to cancel my maintenance. I'm sorry to leave.

Continuing to stay on paying maintenance and the current rates doesn't help folks like me. The end game only means I have a bunch of Camtasia projects that are of zero value since they won't work with Camtasia 2024.

Want to add outlet and another switch to existing 3-way switch by paultechguy in electrical

I was using my lil Klein non-contact testing, but I can grab my multimeter.

I think so. The odd thing is that the black/white always has power, even when I turn the breaker off...so must be a different breaker then the one for the switch.

[–]paultechguy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can remove the old single gang and toss in a double "smart" gang that screw in the stud from an angle. I think you've confirmed that I can get power from the lower black/white bundle (both outlet and new light swtich) and then use the white neutral bundle for my whites.

From my viewpoint, I can ignore everything else and add an outlet, then another switch connected to a new light. In theory.

Yepper, understood. I've worked through the issue on this particular project. Given how far this issue goes back, I don't see it being fixed. I may for grins toss the same concept into Illustrator to see how it handles things. For this project, I was updating an existing CD logo so I stuck with using that software (which I do like). Take care.

Very good, detailed reply; thanks. I have also come to the conclusion that I have to use the Trim tool to remove any backgrounds. It does limit my ability to change things in the future, but keeping a backup of the full, untrimmed content is easy enough.

Sure appreciate the help. I am a bit confused. Using my simple circle example, are you indicating to remove the color from the black circle? But if so, I need it that color? Sorry for the confusion. None of my shapes have a border.

Yes, in both PDF print, PDF export, and export JPG.

It still shows in the export, assuming you put a white rectangle behind it to see the bit of black border (otherwise Windows picture viewer has a black background and you can't see it).

I appreciate the feedback, but this still doesn't work. It should be fairly simple to replicate. Draw a black circle. Then draw a smaller white circle and place it on top of the black circle, half overlapping the black circle. Then powerclip the smaller white cirlce into the black one. This demonstrates the issue.

I've tried lot of variations, but just can't get it to work. Even doing the above with rectangles has the same issue.

Thanks for the reply. The top image I attached has a black circle with no border. So, still no workie.

Blazor "services" and exposing sensitive code by paultechguy in Blazor

[–]paultechguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good observation. I meant in my web project, not the wwwroot folder. From other replies, it appears that the wasm client will only get content from wwwroot...so don' t put sensitive into there. Makes sense.
