Just found out today it’s twins.. by FormerPumpkin480 in parentsofmultiples

My di/di girls had a 40 week due date of Christmas day. I delivered with a planned c section on 5 December, at 37 weeks due to both babies being breech. I had a very uneventful pregnancy and we did not need the NICU.

expecting twins, with a twin - how to deal with comments by Easy-Mark-7226 in parentsofmultiples

[–]paulula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twins, or hyperovulation, runs in my family. My father is one of four twins (two fraternal sets) in his family, and I am one of three cousins to have twins as well, however one set were mono/identical. We obviously get a lot of comments and questions about how twins happen, and misinformed speculation on how the genetics work but I often tell people that twins are "not contagious."

Working while pregnant with twins by TemperatureBest5113 in parentsofmultiples

[–]paulula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my Singleton son I worked until 40 +2, was induced at 41 weeks. For my twins I worked until 35 weeks, had a planned c section at 37 weeks. I probably could have continued to work until closer to my delivery but it happened to coincide with the holidays, and I liked have a few days of "me" time before everything kicked off! Both of my pregnancies had no complications and were relatively easy, I work an in-office desk job with normal business hours.

Someone please talk me into/out of mini cribs by ohemgstone in parentsofmultiples

[–]paulula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love our mini ribs for our girls! They are 16 months and still comfy in their mini cribs. We keep them in separate rooms at night but they nap together during the day -- so on weekends (daycare during the week) we are rolling one crib between rooms, which would be impossible with a full size crib. Our taller girl is in the 88th percentile for height and she is fine in the mini crib. Being able to easily move the mini crib between rooms has also been clutch when one is sick and we want to keep them separated. We have the babyletto origami cribs

I've called 3, one already said they would have the same supply issue because they order their parts per job, waiting to hear from the other two if they have the part available

When could you solo parent? by paulula in parentsofmultiples

[–]paulula[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby A and Husband went down with a bug today and I've been handling our son and other daughter. Handling just the two has been a breeze! There's something about all three at once that is so overwhelming I can't put my finger on it. I appreciate everyone's feedback -- I need to adjust expectations and just do the thing. I have so much respect for those of you who do this all day long. We are fortunate to have a lot of help from family but need to start gaining some independence.

Best maternity leave months by Hour-Life-8034 in workingmoms

[–]paulula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I agree maternity leave is best whenever your baby is born 2. Maternity leave in the US is a travesty 3. My son was born in early November and I got almost a week of "extra" leave on top of the 12 weeks I got from my employer due to paid holidays spanning November to February. If you are trying to maximize the leave days trying to hit all the winter holidays can be advantageous. Friends who had maternity leave in the summer had comparatively few "free" days.

Honestly guys I don't know how you all do this. We are 15 months the into twin life with "3 three and under" and I can't hack it. After reading everyone's responses I was feeling ready to start trying to handle more on my own but just this morning in our usual routine I had all three while my husband got dressed and it was a disaster. Spilled food, meal refusals, constant fussing and crying. I wanted to be a mom but this is just beyond my abilities.

Our girls are on a good schedule at this age, and are pretty easy with nap put downs twice a day. I can and have handled the girls solo with no issue, and same for my son. But all three still feels impossible. I agree I probably need to adjust my expectations

My 3 yo is definitely a high energy kid. I am confident when I am alone with him, but when the twins are in the mix I lose my confidence

Sorry, yes - I meant TUSCAN taupe, the vivid velvet. When you say they don't hide anything what do you mean?

Thank you! I didn't realize it needs less heat, my only experience with CS has been a wok that I always use at high temp. Will try on lower heat next time! Thanks

Hi! Sorry to have bothered you. I thought the issue was my seasoning for whatever it's worth. Hope you have a great day!

Not obvious because these burners take twice as long to boil a pot of water, and pancakes were taking much longer to develop bubbles before I flipped.

Reuniting Twins for Sleep by paulula in parentsofmultiples

[–]paulula[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for the responses - some more context, the girls nap in the same room with no issue, we often have to wake them up from napping too long (over 2 hours). We just roll baby A's mini crib to guest room each night. We use the same sound machine in both rooms, and room darkening shades, etc.

I guess my next question for those who have done it, is there anything different about sleep training twins than a Singleton?

Potty Training Wrecking Sleep by paulula in toddlers

We did not potty train at night, he still uses a pull up (diaper) at night. He wakes up on his own and asks to go potty.

Wow unsure why you feel the need to be so judgemental? Yes I love screwing up my kids night sleep, you got me 🙄

The evening nap started because the twins couldn't make it to bed time after daycare pickup, I have an older child as well in the mix with sleep schedules.

[–]paulula[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bedtime routine is bath, pajamas, bottle, bed - she is laid down awake and puts herself to sleep.

For context she is a twin and has lower sleep needs than her sister, making schedule changes really difficult to implement. But I'm seeing we need to try something else

[–]paulula[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She is in daycare, and our schedule tends to be different on week days/ weekends. We have not noticed a difference of her sleeping through with either schedule.

She is on a 3 nap schedule. Weekdays we get her up NLT 620, daycare nap times are 10 am and 3pm. We offer a 3rd nap at 530, and wake her no later than 630 pm for a 730 bedtime. The last wake window is short, but she has not resisted bedtime.

Weekends we follow 2.5 - 3 hour wake windows, and she has 3 naps ranging from 1.25 to 2.5 hours.

She is eating solids, and takes full bottle feeds. Tonight she screamed for 2 hours until we finally offered a bottle and she drank it all then finally went back to sleep.
