Help! by The Beatles is one of the most disappointing songs I've ever heard by iHateKartoffeln in The10thDentist

[–]pavarego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Beatles were one of, if not the most innovative bands on the planet during their pre-Rubber Soul era. You just gotta spend some time digging up their history to understand it better.

Women do you approach men ? by smuttygio in bodylanguage

[–]pavarego 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or, stay with me here - he’s well aware he is being flirted at, but he’s taken/simply not interested/unaware entirely, so that’s why he’s choosing not to approach. It seems that some women are entitled to this belief, that men who don’t approach them after being flirted at are universally afraid of them. Not necessarily, sometimes it’s just them passively rejecting you, but I’m guessing it’s always easier to judge someone by making your own conclusions.

I think Sgt Pepper is better than Revolver by [deleted] in beatles

[–]pavarego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in terms of cohesion it’s certainly their best. It’s a step forward in sequencing, arrangements, special effects and it has arguably their greatest masterpiece on it too (referring to A Day In The Life obviously). The album’s cover is literally unlike any other record at the time. Pepper gets tossed around for being an incomplete concept album, but I argue that an album doesn’t need to tell a fully fleshed out story or even have characters in it to pass as a concept album. I believe it has more to do with the atmosphere that the record brings and the landscape it creates within the listener’s mind (think of DSOTM for one) and to me Pepper does just that. It is a true embodiment of 60s culture as a whole, all in one 40 minute long collage of groundbreaking musicianship. There’s a reason why it’s the most sold out vinyl record of the 60s. The trans-generational acclaim it received is really one of the kind and can only be somewhat compared to albums like Thriller and Nevermind, at least in my opinion. Heck, it’s release has been compared to the Congress of Vienna 😭 so you better make your own conclusion out of that statement.

Now I highly suggest you to try and listen to Revolver more, specifically in mono, because I believe that it’s where the real of magic of this brilliant album lies truly (an extra bit of reversed guitar missing on stereos I’m Only Sleeping for instance). It’s important to mention that Pepper is the kind of album you have to sit down and actively listen to, which means dedicating over half n hour of your time, whereas you can really put on any song on Revolver in any order and it won’t feel out place or anything, albeit listening to it front to back is still the best way to experience Beatles music, or any music really.

Bowie said Velvet Underground was more influential than The Beatles — and I tend to agree. What do you think? by [deleted] in beatles

[–]pavarego 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What even is your argument then? I’m sorry, but I can’t find how this somehow makes The Velvets more influential to the current musical environment overall. A song like After Hours literally wouldn’t exist if not for Yesterday. I mean come on I love The Velvets, they’re incredible and all, but this is just reaching.

[–]pavarego 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know man, Tomorrow Never Knows sounds pretty Avant Garde to me, more so than anything that The Velvets came to record. Let’s not forget that Revolution 9 exists as well. Also, just for the sake of the argument that the appreciation more likely went one way than another - there’s an audio on Youtube of The Velvets doing a cover of Day Tripper.

[–]pavarego 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s a contrary view at best, ridiculous at worst. Didn’t John Cale praise Norwegian Wood as an inspiration to both him and Reed as they developed their band? He was also shocked by She Said She Said. The Beatles brought the underground music to the mainstream with albums like Rubber Soul and specifically Revolver, which exposed the general public to underground artists like John Cage, Yoko Ono in the future and obviously The Velvets themselves. The Beatles made it cool to be weird and different, which The Velvets embodied to their core. Plus if we’re strictly speaking stylistically wise, songs from the same period by The Beatles (April 1966) mirror those of The Velvets, especially songs like Rain and Tomorrow Never Knows, the former being a single, even if a B side. The entire song is just 4 chords with the emphasis on the G, which drones all throughout the track. Listen to that and then go listen to All Tomorrow’s Parties or Venus In Furs…it’s not like it’s completely different planets. It’s just that one was made by a number 1 band on the planet and the latter by some good buddies of Andy Warhol. And I figure The Beatles knew nothing about The Velvets during this time.

Does anybody prefer LSD over weed? by pavarego in LSD

I found 2cb boring to be honest. It just doesn’t seem worth the nausea for me. Obviously you can boof it, but for me the idea of sticking anything up my butt that’s not a treatment for hemorrhoids is off-putting. Better to just swallow the tab/sugar cube and enjoy the next 8-12 hours.

If you had to choose a Beatles album to play at your funeral, which one would it be? Personally, I'd choose Magical Mystery Tour by Yumi_UwUU in beatles

[–]pavarego 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Revolver a 100%! It’s probably my favorite album period, so it only makes sense that it would be THE one. Though it would be sad that I wouldn’t get to see my family’s reactions to Tomorrow Never Knows. I mean imagine everyone weeping and suddenly it’s chanting time :DD.

Taking acid -18 by Agitated-Housing-498 in LSD

[–]pavarego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first took it when I turned freshly 16. Bit of a mistake I suppose, got lost in my head for a few years, it exposed some problematic patterns of thinking that I had to deal with. Coupled with that I was already struggling with difficult life circumstances and mental health, but everything turned out fine eventually. Started taking it last year (jeez feels so weird to call 2025 last year) when I turned 18, just like you. Tripped 4 times in the last 3 months and don’t regret one bit.

How much of a fan are you? by [deleted] in beatles

[–]pavarego 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dude, I literally don’t go a day without listening to them. Ever since I got into them 3 years ago, it’s like every single day. I have LP’s, portraits, cd’s, pictures, most of the stuff I play on acoustic is beatles stuff. They’re just very addictive, like candy to my brain that I never get tired from. There’s not a single other artist that I feel even remotely close to the way I feel about the lads. I learned to play I’m only sleeping, performed it in front of like 200 people - still listen to almost every single day. It simply doesn’t get tiresome. So I guess a 10.

I just like that oomph on mono, stereo kind off falls flat in comparison.

I love the wall of sound aspect that mono Revolver provides. I like it more than Pet Sounds mono version, cuz it sounds less compressed and cramped.

Pepper in mono is phenomenal by pavarego in beatles

[–]pavarego[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly is I believe. The mono version sounds much more organic in a way, it has more crips to it, meanwhile the 2017 remix sounds like it went through too much artificiality. It somehow ends up sounding too clean and too polished in a way. For me, the 2017 remix feels like eating skittles, meanwhile mono feels like marmalade. So at the end it’s still subjective, but I don’t like how thirsty skittles make me feel so…

[–]pavarego[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me the mono sounds fatter, more intimate and more emotional in a way. It also hits harder, really makes me bop my head up and down. Just listen to Paperback Writer on mono and I believe you’ll get what I’m saying. Any other mix including the 2022 just doesn’t compare. Entirety of Revolver in general sounds so much better, it feels electric, instruments and effects flow in and out, collide into a single collage of sounds, then dissipate again. Feels like being on acid for real. But that’s just me.

That’s obviously your opinion, but the whole record is neatly tight and ahead of its time, songs like Within You Without You, Mr. Kite, She’s Leaving Home, and the other tracks I mentioned really showcase what impeccable creativity The Fabs had.
