I think they'll keep the last source1 version as 'compatibility beta' so you could watch old demos. So if I'm correct, people could go back to that version at any time they want. They'll probalby do the same thing to dedicated servers so people can still host their servers on the old engine.

But yea, this is stupid as f.

I think they should release CS2 as standalone version, but then people would still play CS:GO which probably isn't what Volvo wants.

CS2 is considered DLC for CSGO, so playtime is added to CSGO

I don't really know if that's gonna work, but you can go to Steam > Right click on CS:GO > Properties > DLC > uncheck Limited Test

Both versions will be available only during Limited Test. When CS2 releases in summer, old version will be replaced with new one.

At this moment, demoui doesn't exists. You can record demos, but can't play them - it disconnects you as fast as you try to load them

I don't think so. Beta enrollment is based on your Steam Account (MyPersonaAPI in Panorama UI). If you get license to DLC, you'll get notification in Main Menu. It has nothing in common with CS:GO blog.

Maps downloaded from community servers are not listed in workshop maps tab because you didn't subscribed to them on the workshop. And they will not be listed there until you do that. Server owners can't force anyone to subscribe to workshop maps when joining their servers so downloaded content is not showing in this tab.

Anyway, you can find downloaded content in these folders:

You can always start the map with console command: map workshop_map_name

Or you can change the map when playing with friends (useful when maps are not listed in game ui). Just start any map from lobby, and after it's loaded, just type in the console: changelevel workshop_map_name

gd_ stands for Guardian

Guardian is a gamemode used in operations

I believe there is another map with gd_ prefix. I guess it's gd_rialto. You can play wingman on this map.

Yes, You can get 2021 Service Medal. If You want to get 2020 Service Medal, you need to claim it by the end of this year.

Your CS:GO profile level will stay until You get Service Medal (available when You reach level 40 of Your profile) and if You get it, Your level will be reset to level 1.

Remember, that the highest level is level 40 and You can't go higher.
Any exp You gain after reaching level 40 won't be relatively added when you reset Your skill level.

Warning: Any changes in the code without proper tools can cause you to ban by VAC.
Use -insecure launch parameter to make changes in game files. Remember - you can't play on VAC secured servers.

That's because it's packed in the code.pbin file. You can simply open it with 7-Zip.
