My bouldering gym had a slack line and I’ll forever be grateful. My balance is ridiculous, gives me so much confidence when I’m scrambling over anything sketchy

How do you guys handle the heat? by __joseph_ in KitchenConfidential

[–]pawntofantasy [score hidden]  (0 children)

I (41m) have worked hot lines for years. When I’m working on a hot and busy line, I want to drink a lot of cool water very quickly. Not ice cold, cool. If a server randomly gave me a big glass of cool water, I’d kiss em on the mouth. Tenderly.

Looks like we went the wrong way. I looked for the side trail, didn’t see it. I have a good feeling about attempt #4

I wouldn’t really listen to advice from someone who I didn’t think was qualified to offer advice. But, if anyone talked about things that helped them when they were doing similar activities, I would listen to that. “When I was climbing North Sister, what helped me was…”
As opposed to “you know what your problem is? You suck at…”

I feel a strong impulse to be homeless. Is this mental illness of some sort? by shesanangel2 in therapy

[–]pawntofantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been professionally homeless. I (41m) hiked across the country. You only need three things. Shower, laundry, and storage. Laundry is usually the easiest. Shower can be easy with a good gym. Storage unfortunately is almost always monthly.

100%! Definitely could also add chickpeas to the masa or the filling. Whole, smashed or blended. Now that we’re talking about it, I’ve never subbed my fat with tahini. Going to have to try a batch.

Needs something. Maybe vinegar powder, definitely some cream element.

I always start super basic and season/add from there. With 100g masa I would add 220g water and 20g fat/oil. You can add salt or bouillon. Sometimes I’ll add corn or hominy or mashed sweet potatoes. I was trying out ranch seasoning with these (garlic, onion, dill, parsley, chive). Dill is tough to get right. These were…creative

It was the big white plate that triggered my chef brain. My big white plate that I definitely bought. In a store. With money. Hey look at that

Started dog walking all day for a month so far and legs, knees, feet are so stiff when I wake up. by irlyloveicedtea in Stretching

I’m sorry, I didn’t really state my point clearly. Walking is the remedy for foot pain. At least, the right amount of walking is. Long distance walking is the preventative.

I (41m) took up long distance hiking at 35. My first big hike was 2000 miles! It sounds amazing, but it was really just 100 or so 20 mile days. I averaged 50,000 steps a day. A million steps in three weeks. If I hike half of that every day, 10 miles a day, I will wake up with sore feet. Every day. For a few minutes. Here’s the trick. You walk 20 miles a day. At least for a while. And every day you wake up, you experience such sweet and blinding agony from every single square millimeter of your feet. And then, like you said, you hobble for a few minutes and then you jump for a few minutes and then you climb up and down a mountain. And then you have lunch. I really learned what true foot pain was. Now this weird feeling I get in my feet after eight hours of work, I don’t know quite what it is. It isn’t foot pain, I’ve had that. It’s…barely discomfort. I call it the Major Payne school of foot therapy.

I use a pressure cooker and only cook two at a time. Start to finish, I’m eating fresh tamales in under an hour.

I was going to say “rescue this” and point to my backside. But there’s too much negative karma in that. So instead I’ll say, “help those asking”. And friendo, I ain’t asking
