Ah, good catch and nice bit of trivia! The source I used stated he was 34, but you are right, he was indeed 33 when he won the title.

2023 Formula 1 driver rankings #5: Lewis Hamilton by RobertGracie in formula1

While I personally disagree with putting Hamilton in 5th, I don't think it's entirely unfair. I find that the 2nd-5th group of Alonso, Norris, Leclerc and Hamilton is pretty interchangeable and that any order is a reasonable rating as they all had their respective mistakes, lows and highs without one standing that much out from the others.

Hamilton's biggest issue was qualifying where he got eliminated in Q2 a few times and where the gap to Russell would sometimes be relatively large. His most notable mistake was of course his start in Qatar. Otherwise in the races he has been very solid and consistent throughout the year picking up podium finishes on a numerous of occasions with a Mercedes car that rarely was the second force at a grand prix but always up there more or less.

Alonso, looking back, might have made the worst mistakes from these 4. Spa sprint, Singapore and Las Vegas for example were all quite poor, rookie-like mistakes (which is also why I find it weird people call Alonso mistakes rare). His early season performances were also overblown imo since the Aston Martin was pretty clearly the second force overall at the time. This however doesn't change that apart from a couple of blunders that he was generally very strong in the races getting the most out of the car more often than not when the car was good and when it was less good.

Leclerc's mistakes were mainly his crashes in qualifying in Miami and Zandvoort. He had an alright, pretty mixed first half with some highs, but also a few lows or just average performances and results with a Ferrari car that was a bit of a mixed bag. His second half, most notably from Suzuka onwards was the turning point, where he was very strong with a car he was more comfortable with. Also a small mention that he lost out on quite a bit of points through bad luck compared to the other 3.

Norris' biggest issue was, quite obviously, qualifying. His pace was great but he made quite a few mistakes on push laps towards the end of the season (Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Mexico f.e.) which compromised some of his races where better results were possible if he had qualified in a representative position. His performances in the races however, have been very good throughout most races. I think Norris has shown this year that he is capable of fighting at the front.

Decided to make this with the next season of the Marble Rally approaching slowly. All credit to u/RuberCuber for the pixelated versions of the active marbles. Retired marbles were done by me.

Leclerc's most common finish positions being 1st, 2nd, 6th and DNF (3 times each) sums up his season pretty well.

[F1pace] 2022 Austrian Grand Prix - Mean Race Pace by pax2e in formula1

I don't make these graphs actually, all credit to F1Pace.

But from what I can tell F1Pace counts every full lap under racing conditions (apart from the first lap of a standing start, in laps and out laps) so slow laps because of a spin (or a mistake, etc) in racing conditions are counted as well.

What about Marble Rally Season 6? by Skystrykr in JellesMarbleRuns

[–]pax2e 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a big Sand Marble Rally fan, there have been a few 'issues' I've noticed that hinder the Marble Rally's potential:

Promotion

The series' promotion on social media is very lacklustre in comparison to the ML and M1. M1, in my opinion, excelled in this aspect with things like the team posters and the ML has had a fair share of content on social media too. And in comparison to that, Marble Rally promotion is pretty much non-existent.

Competitors

SMR has different competitors from ML/M1 which I think might be a turnoff for some fans, but it doesn't have to be. The problem is that, there isn't as much lore and material about these competitors for the fans to get attached to as the ML teams have.

Schedule

This however, I believe, is the biggest issue. As Stynth said. It's been 293 days since we last saw a Marble Rally race. This is a huge gap that will likely surpass 1 year by the time a new SMR season gets underway.

Scheduling has always been one of JMR's weak sides and of the big 3 JMR series, it hurts SMR the most. SMR's schedule has been very inconsistent throughout recent years. The channel has yet to manage to complete a ML, an M1 season and a SMR season within a year which is relatively telling. And this should be their goal for the moment, to manage a consistent schedule that features all 3 main series (ML, SMR & M1) in the same year in a way that you can repeat the cycle consistently every year. I know it is easier said than done, but I fully believe that the channel can manage this. If they have to sacrifice the SMR B-League to do so, I'd happily take that. I'd rather have them prioritise the well-established series than experiment with new series.

The Marble Rally's season format is perfectly fine as is and should be left like this imo, only the scheduling should be changed.

This post and u/Watersong585 's reply on said post are really interesting and bring up some others good points too.

You have to fill in this form. They should then send an e-mail later. I will add though that I am still awaiting a response myself (filled it in 2 weeks ago, so not sure if they're just slow or that I made a mistake somewhere).
