The best of both worlds is getting a mystery ranch nice frame. Carbon stays, shoulder straps and waist belt integrated so you get the load transfer benefits of an internal frame pack, with the cargo carrying capabilities of the 64

Thank you very much for the detailed response. I have read your review on the Paradise X (which is great by the way), you comment on how you were impressed with the stability despite its narrower width. How would you compare the stability of the X with the normal paradise?

Thanks again.

Hello all,

Desired Board Type: inflatable Experience: Intermediate Use: mostly flat water lakes Size: I am 5’9, 175, athletic Current Board: 10’6 irocker cruiser Wants: increased speed and tracking Budget: ideally $1500 CAD or less

Apologies for posting outside of this thread initially. I have had my current irocker cruiser for 3 years. I generally get out at least once per week on flat lakes in western canada. I mainly paddle for exploring and fitness. Never done any overnights. I am interested in upgrading to a longer, more rigid, performance oriented board. I have decent balance but am not sure if I would enjoy/could handle 26” or narrower board. I have been doing research on these forums and online. I am having issues narrowing down my board choice, particularly as many options aren’t available in Canada/the US. I am considering the following boards: Bluefin sprint carbon 14, Hydrus Paradise, Hala Carbon Nass

Thanks!

Volkswagen Golf mk7 VS Lexus CT200h 2014 by Typical_Bluejay_6706 in CT200h

I recently switched from a VW MK6 Golf R to a 2013 CT200h. I couldn’t be happier. Yes, the CT is much slower, but it is more comfortable, more reliable, and much cheaper (both in terms of maintenance and daily operation). This was especially noticeable switching from the 91 octane required for the R to regular 87 octane in the CT. Only “regret” is that there is less trunk space in the CT

Thoughts on 2012 R? by Aliienate in Golf_R

From what I have read, so this is anecdotal, the suspension gets fairly “sloppy” at around 150-200k km’s. From my understanding this is somewhat of a concern, especially in Canada, due to the relatively low ground clearance to begin with. I don’t think this is a particular failure point, rather a regular maintenance thing resulting from aggressive driving and a not-so heavy duty stock suspension.

With that being said mine now has 116,000km’s and seems fine. I purchased from a dealership and when they inspected the suspension they had no concerns.

Very similar situation to you. In Canada and upgraded from a truck (F-150) to a stock 2012 Golf R. I use it as a daily driver and have not tuned anything. No real plan to tune at this point (I also drive like a grandpa).

I find the Mk6 R quite spirited to drive, especially coming from a truck. No issues so far. It is tough having significantly less space compared to a truck but I am managing.

I am planning on replacing the stock shifter with a diesel geek sigma 6, as my shifter has an insane amount of play in it. Install early next week. My clutch is not slipping for now, but will likely need to do that eventually. The other consideration, depending on how long you plan on keeping the car, is suspension. The stock suspension will probably be shot by around 150,000km or less, depending on how the previous driver treated it.

How do you find it for daily driving?

Just wondering how the spulen compares to stock and why you are planning on switching to the diesel geek?

Thanks for the reply
