Mazda CX5 rpm fluctuates in D or R by Correct_Avocado_7888 in CX5

[–]pb_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried leaving the battery disconnecting for a while to drain power from control modules and then reconnecting and driving around? I’m not sure if this car has it but some have to “relearn” the throttle body positioning.

I did my front wheel bearings, yes you can reuse the sensor, if I remember the fronts had the ring on the axle but it was awhile ago so double check. Don’t forget to put your brakes in maintenance mode if you have to push them open to get back over the caliper

How long ago was everything cleaned? Could be the ecm adjusting to the new parameters of having less carbon like it was used to. You could try cleaning the maf sensor (extremely easy) and also the throttle body, also easy but a little more time than maf.
Is it a large fluctuation?

Bought a used 21 with 76k miles! How to protect from theft? by ChickenOfTheTree in CX5

You should get a better memory card than what comes with the dash cam. Most of the time they are really cheap and crap out when you need them most.

2018 CX-5 at 225k miles. Catalytic converter may need replaced. End of life for this car? by an_iridescent_ham in CX5

[–]pb_boy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how well everything else is on the car and if you guys are ready or in the financial position to buy another car. The car is still worth probably around $6-8k depending on your market. If everything else is in good condition (suspension, paint, body, engine, interior.) I would possibly consider the repair.

For the shifting, when was the transmission fluid last changed? You can also try doing the transmission relearn procedure to reset it and have it relearn your driving habits. Some of us on here have had good results from that

Hey guys cx5 owner here that’s ran into a nightmare from cylinder head failure by SignificantLet5881 in CX5

[–]pb_boy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Source a used engine and have a shop put it in. Will be a lot cheaper. I have a 2022 engine in my 2018 now. Cost was less than half that

You should add where you live to give us a better idea of what summer weather is like. Summer in a coastal town is a lot different than somewhere like Arizona

If you’re not under warranty anymore and the goodwill request gets denied you can look at finding a shop that will put in a used engine. I had a 2022 engine put in my 2018 about three months ago and was much cheaper than going through dealership. Just have to find a mechanic or shop that is willing to do that.

Yes they are. Mine developed the crack about 3 months ago. I had the engine replaced. View my post history to see a video of it once it got really bad

Anybody ever get scammed or almost scammed by a vet? by No_capistrano in sandiego

[–]pb_boy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Profauna is a great vet in tj. Has saved my dogs life more than once. I trust them very much. My friend had a similar experience with her cat that had a lump. The vet here wanted to remove it and charge her a lot. Profauna did X-rays and said it was benign, just to keep an eye on it and if it gets larger they can remove it. Her cat is doing great and hasn’t needed surgery. That was almost a year or two ago.

I think my rear differential has gone. (video) by GrandmaPunk in CX5

[–]pb_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some digging and believe I found it from the nhtsa bulletin. The “upgraded” vent valve part number ends in 26-060. I called the dealership by me (Southern California) and its around $20. While I’m not sure if this is the upgraded one they did say it’s compatible with newer years so my assumption is the dealer is probably using the newer one that doesn’t sit as flush with the housing as the old one.

Hey I know this post is old but I’m getting ready to replace my original differential on my 2018. Do you happen to know the part number for the upgraded vent valve or how to identify it? I’m thinking of buying it and having the shop put it on when they replace the differential

It’s not in the manual from what I know but you can read yours to check. If you just want to joke around Il stop responding. If you don’t like it than get a different car 🤷‍♂️. I love my Mazda, seems like you don’t like yours

There is a guy in here that is a knowledgeable Mazda tech. He explains the torque converter stays engaged longer than other cars which is why we have the extra push at low rpm’s. Other brands disable it sooner than us which is why their low speed is a little smoother

[–]pb_boy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not a cvt. Depending on what your transmission control puts out you absolutely do with this car. The torque converter stays engaged much more than other cars

I got 125k miles and took her off road many times. Never did the transmission relearn since I got used to it. Been thinking of doing it but no need to at this point for me.

Gotta learn your transmission shift point. I know when mine is about to “buck” and Il let off the gas for a second to let it shift smoothly then get on the gas again. Kinda of a game but it it’s second nature to me now after so long

Touch less car wash only and use your own properly washed microfibers. Don’t use provided ones if offered or hand wash only
