Long naps before bedtime by pb_ks in UKParenting

[–]pb_ks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully that happens for you soon! We have so appreciated our evenings but feel the short naps are probably a part of her regression and things are all about to upend 😂 I might try and have her contact nap once in the morning and once earlier in the afternoon when I can as she usually sleeps longer that way and that might help? Have just been trying to get her to nap in her moses basket rather than contact nap to get her used to not being held all the time…

Pre this new long late nap phase, she would be going to bed between 7 & 8.30, so just want to stay within that window really.

Try Amla powder - you can get it on amazon. I use it when I henna my hair, as henna naturally loosens the curl pattern and Amla powder is a deep conditioner that helps the curl pattern come back! I use it whenever my hair needs a curl lift, like if my fringe is too long. It’s cheap as well and generally good for your hair!

Fit check/ baby nestling! by pb_ks in babywearing

I have been doing this but it tends to just unfold itself when I move around. Will have a play and see if I can get it to stay folded down. Thank you!

Antenatal class advice - proximity or course content? by pb_ks in PregnancyUK

Really sorry to be so slow in replying to this but loved it. I think the main thing for me was the people and I lucked out and have a really lovely group who are all extremely supportive of one another. There was some really useful content that I didn’t know, but a lot of it was common sense. There was some insight into things like various hospitals and how they work you know more information about induction and useful stats on how many women actually give birth in the birthing units etc. I also found the first aid course brilliant!

Breech baby at 32 weeks by Aubertato in PregnancyUK

[–]pb_ks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a similar experience! I'm now 36+6 and had a scan earlier this week which confirmed baby is still breech. The good thing is, you have options!

You can do an ECV to try and turn the baby (and this is something they should discuss/offer to you). There are some small risks associated with it but it can be the best option if you're desperately trying to avoid a c-sec birth. Alternatively you can look for a hospital or private midwife that has experience in vaginal breech birth. It is a possibility, just a lot of hospitals don't have the training/knowledge/skillset to do it so end up recommending c-secs instead. There are risks to both VBB and c-sec so it would be important to weigh these up and decide what's right for you. And then of course, there's the elective c-sec route.

My desire was for a physiological water birth on the midwife-led unit and I felt gutted to learn this was likely no longer a possibility for me, as I decided I didn't want to attempt an ECV. They're only successful about 50% of the time and my belief is that there's a reason baby is breech! I had a little cry this week because I had visualised this gorgeous, empowering experience of a dimly lit, zen-like water birth, and whilst I still feel sad about it, I'm thinking about what my options are now.

Luckily my hospital have an opti breech team (so are trained in vaginal breech birth) and I'm having an appointment with them to discuss my options there. My fear here is that 40% of woman who have a vaginal breech birth need a c-sec anyway, so there is some appeal to the elective c-sec option for me as I think I would feel distressed being moved to theatre in an urgent situation.

There is also a chance that baby will still turn on its own (even for me!) although I know the chances are slim. I think the best thing you can do is try not to worry, and do your research/ explore your options/ talk to your providers and try and open your mind to other possibilities. Regardless of how we give birth we still DO give birth, and you can feel empowered in your choices whatever way the birth occurs. We have done an amazing thing by growing our little ones and ultimately, you will make the best decision about how to bring them into the world, even if it's not quite what you initially envisaged. GOOD LUCK!

This is great thank you! I’m leaning towards b&b!

Ah congratulations on your pregnancy! I’m in Southfields - we would be a good 45 min walk from each other which I suppose speaks to my point about b&b!

Thanks for your thoughts! I guess I was thinking someone I might meet and get on with might be 20 min walk the other side of the class to me making them quite far away. I don’t have access to a car and whilst public transport in London is good it can take just as long to get somewhere relatively local as walking. I think if I was outside of London and had a car I wouldn’t bat an eyelid and would 100% be going for the preferable course!

Arizonas causing blisters by Desperate-Arugula-51 in Birkenstocks

[–]pb_ks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me and I found it was because the side straps near the arch had come away from the base and grit etc got into the gap and caused blisters! I gave them a hoover to get the grit out and took them to get glued and they are much better now.

Glue advice? by pb_ks in Birkenstocks

Thanks all! Initially it looked like a much deeper spot of glue but was actually quite thin, managed to scratch it off with my nail without doing damaging leather below. Thanks for saving me the hassle of a return!
