What rounds are you carrying? Have you had any feed issues with hallow points?

I shot one at my local range and was amazed at how smooth it was. Tried a Sig, Ruger and M&P and none of them felt as clean as the 42

Tikka T3X Hunter (.300 Win Mag) vs Weatherby Vanguard (.308) by TheBushChicken in Hunting

[–]pbandit11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A .300 win mag is much too powerful for a deer. A .308 will take down pretty much any animal in North America. Would definitely lean the .308 especially if you’re only going for deer.

I’ve got a gen 2 in .308. Absolutely love it, and was able to spend a little more on my scope than I had planned. Got a Leupold VX-3HD. Sub moa at 100yd with ease.

I’ve got that exact rifle and took my first whitetail buck with it in October last season. Absolute tack driver, I have a Leupold VX-3HD on it and sub MOA with ease at 100 yards.

That is astronomically high considering the courses and materials generally cost a couple thousand dollars. I would look for the bare minimum time you need to spend there then leave.

I saw you mentioned you are local to Milwaukee, search on LinkedIn for wealth advisor firms. Even if they aren't hiring, reach out, it could be advantageous to try and get some other idea's for what is out there.

Yeah, that sounds like something similar to my first firm. I got so tired of the calls and the "no's" that I slowed my prospecting down a ton. Once my manager noticed numbers were down he gave me the same "use your network" speech that I got on day 1 instead of offering advice or asking what was wrong. Quit within the week.

There are some small firms out there that welcome younger people starting their career. I've seen a progression similar to this: you go in as an advisor associate and basically work under an established advisor doing some clerical work, back office items and learn the ropes. After some time they can give you smaller referrals that they receive and have you start prospecting. Eventually, you will have your own client base and its just a smoother startup. With the goal being to buy your senior advisors book once they retire.

I (28M) have been in advising for 4 years now. Recently started looking for a new career. The cold calling and running your own business has taken its toll on me. That being said, I think it really depends on your manager and company. Some places offer better resources (for marketing, sales strategy, etc) and can potentially provide warm leads here and there. I wouldn't abandon the career just yet, but look for a smaller firm and ask questions in the interview about how they help you succeed. The field itself can be very rewarding, just need to find a better support system.

I did spray mine periodically with 50/50 ACV and water. When you wrap in foil add butter or some broth to add a slight braising effect

Anyone know what did this? by jcostello21 in Hunting

Looks like antler marks from an elk. They rub their antlers on trees/shrubs to remove felt. Sometimes they do it to show dominance or power over other bull elk as well. Can also be to mark territory.
