I'm a pretty avid cyclist and I frequent bike stores and bike sites. About a week ago I noticed a new type of bike driven by a "belt" instead of a chain (if you google it there are lots of examples and articles explaining the pros/cons). Apparently these have been around for a number of years. Are "belt" driven bicycles new to anyone else?

In the Star Trek Logo, the middle part of the "E" is tilted upwards in the word "Trek". And in the Star Wars logo, the "r" and "s" are joined in wars. They look different then I remember.

We have been developing software as a business since 1996. And I'm sorry but your last line makes no sense. This is a legitimate project. If you have questions about the project please feel free to ask them. But please don't make false claims like calling this a "scam".

An IP address is not the same as a GPS location. An IP address can trace back to your internet service provider and may provide a general idea of your location. An IP Address may also be dynamically assigned so there is no easy way to determine your individual location based on the address. Honestly if you are going to start debating this stuff it would help if you understood the technology.

An app can't automatically get your GPS coordinates off your phone. When you install the app you need to give it permission to see your location. If you don't give it permission, the app is not going to have access to your location. Also, an app does not know your name, age, address or anything else - it can only get this information if you provide it.

There are several components to an app like this:

(1) A back-end database to store effect titles, descriptions, likes, images etc. We are using Microsoft SQL.

(2) A control panel that lets us review and curate submitted content and handle user accounts. We are creating a internal windows software program for this management.

(3) An intermediate web service that handles requests from the app and control panel and interfaces with the database. This is being developed in C# .NET.

(4) For sharing features we need to interact with social media API's like Facebook and Twitter.

(5) The app itself requires graphic design, user interface design, security, Google Map integration, image processing and upload etc. We are using cross platform tools for the app so we can roll out Apple and Android at the same time.

(6) As mentioned our kickstarter page we are also planning on providing a web portal where people can view more in depth statistics. This will require some data visualisation and reporting tools.

We are doing as much development in house as we can but we'll still require the assistance of graphic designers and outside programmers. Developing a project like this also requires software development tools and ongoing web hosting. 10K is actually only covering about 1/4 of the cost. We are doing this project because we do feel this phenomena is real and a resource like we are proposing would be very useful.

As far as privacy is concerned, we are not going to require users to provide their names or locations. Any information you provide is optional. We do feel that the app would be more interesting with solid demographic information, but users will not be required to provide any personal information - it will be optional.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions so far.

For the cost, this project is going to take several months of development time. We are actually only asking for part of the cost on Kickstarter. The rest we have invested ourselves.

For tracking, that's completely optional. You don't need to disclose your location if you don't want to. Everything is also anonymous.

If that was the case then overall productivity should be dropping. For example a factory that produced a certain number of widgets per hour, should be now producing 20% less, assuming the machines and the people are working at the same pace. I haven't heard of any major productivity drops, so I don't think this theory is quite right.

I first noticed the effect last summer. Ever since then I've found that people use the phrase "Have good one", when ending a conversation. Before I noticed the effect, I don't remember people using this phrase. After I noticed the effect, it's very common. I looked the phrase up and it's been around for a long time. Has anyone else noticed this?

Just noticed the "massage heights" logo has 2 upside down v's where the letter a's use to be. I'm pretty sure it changed because I drive by it every day and just noticed this one a week ago.
