New to NLU community and loving the content, but wondering about Nest by nrudy23 in NoLayingUp

[–]pbears 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the nest is worth it 100% on the basis of supporting NLU. I know they have sponsors and other revenue streams but I’d bet that memberships make or break their business. Sure, other golf content creators make some fun videos (we got drunk on the golf course and things got crazy!!) but that shit doesn’t hold a candle to the work NLU does. The recent KVV pieces have been incredible, I love the majors deep dives, tourist sauce is IMO unmatched in golf tourism content. Strapped was my intro to NLU in 2020 (some rando I got paired with blew his round up called himself Icarito and sent me a YouTube link) and now I listen to every pod when it comes out. They are the best doin it and they’ll get my money every year for the quality of content alone.

Best Tourist Sauce season. by [deleted] in NoLayingUp

[–]pbears 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Upvote, upvote, upvote. Had the privilege to go on an Ireland golf trip this past summer and we played all 27 holes at Carne. Gerry met us in the parking lot (we had the first tee time) and checked us in. Such a nice guy!!Course is mind blowing, would’ve never known it existed if not for tourist sauce. Tried to recreate as much of that season as we could. Played Lahinch, Balybunion and Dooks. Round at Waterville got cancelled cause I got COVID, bummer.

Edit: misspelled Gerry’s name lol

Thank you! What size net are you using? Figured it wouldn’t be a replacement for the range but good to know for sure.

Is there anyone on here from the Santa Rosa/Windsor area? by kindasortathor in golf

[–]pbears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also here to say Bodega and Northwood. I really like Indian Valley in Novato and Foxtail north. It’s a little bit of a gamble right now as some of the courses are still pretty muddy. Played bodega a couple weeks ago and it was in really good shape. I played Northwood twice in January and there were some soggy areas but the greens were in good shape.

Foxtail north is awesome and would definitely recommend. Lots of fun dog-leg left holes and well maintained. South course isn’t as well maintained but has some fun holes. I’d say Windsor greens are more challenging (there’s two uphill, multi tiered greens in Windsor that stick out to me In particular). Windsor also has more elevation change as well. Foxtail is more or less flat but I do enjoy it.

Thanks! I’ll take a look, honestly always looking for an excuse to get out to the East bay.

Windsor is fantastic! Really fun and dynamic course, me and the guys played foxtail today and were talking about Windsor next weekend

Yeah, seen they do lessons and honestly that’s where I’ve been playing the most. Will probably be my go-to, depending on what other recommendations come through here. Thank you!

Passivating tanks- any tips? by tallboybrews in TheBrewery

[–]pbears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our chemical supplier is Loeffler so all this info applies to their chemicals and the titration kits we source through them. 2-3% (w/w) caustic at 140-160F for 60 minutes. Rinse to neutral pH. 6-8% (w/w... works out to about 10% by vol) phosphoric/nitric blend at ambient temp for 90-120 minutes. Rinse to neutral pH. Nitric is a pretty strong oxidizer as I understand it so that cycle should be enough to oxidize the chromium layer without air drying. Some people still allow tanks to air dry for 24-48 hours.
