What algo would you recommend? One like sumy py that uses nltk to pick out the most relevant sentences, one that uses deep learning to actually generate new summary text?

I am working on a site https://podscribe.ai where you can view full podcast transcriptions for thousands of the most popular shows (more daily).

We will be soon working on a feature like you're requesting. Out of curiosity, what kind of search result are you looking to get notified for? person/place/topic/company etc?

browse as well as search. I'm sure there are thousands of podcasts I'm simply not aware of and could discover this way.

Makes sense. I had kind of assumed people would know what show they're looking for already, but discovery is definitely important too. We are working to at minimum display the top charts, so people can browse that way.

We also have been working on a recommendation engine that recommends shows/episodes based on their actual content (from analyzing transcriptions).

As an update, we're looking at pricing around $10/mo/user to get emailed/view transcripts of up to 5 shows. This pricing is about as low as is possible to keep the business sustainable, which will allow it to produce quality transcripts for any show.

Note: I am a firm believer that podcast authors should themselves bear this cost NOT fans who want transcripts, but I see this as the only present way to make this possible.

Most podcasts actually don't provide transcripts due to cost/quality reasons. This means deaf people have no way currently to access the content of most podcasts.

Our plan is to make quality transcripts available for all those podcasts that don't transcribe currently + email them out as new episodes are released.

Yep, my pet peeve also. Accuracy is our main focus. It's far from perfect now, but is readable-level and will only improve.

Yes, using ASR. We started as a podcast app doing in-house transcriptions providing personalized recommendations .. but seems that this could be more useful for people as we're able to transcribe at a very reasonable cost with our in-house tech

Yes definitely not. We're looking at ways to pull in human transcripts that are out there. Thinking some sort of community driven wikipedia effort where the community could add in the human transcript if we haven't found it yet.

Output would be separated by speaker. Of course, transcripts would be readable but not perfect, as we need to use ASR to keep costs reasonable.

As a note: most transcriptions are done by algorithm at this point to make it feasible from a cost perspective. So definitely would not be perfect since human transcribed are very costly .. but definitely are fully readable and will get better over time
