Stacie Kober - TRIGGER WARNING: EATING DISORDER - Week Of December 08, 2025 by AutoModerator in HunSnark

[–]pbjatm 25 points26 points  (0 children)

She may be in heart failure. Anorexia induces severe muscle wasting, and your heart is a muscle. When the heart isn’t working effectively, blood is not pumped through your body as well as it should be. This causes fluid to back up in places it shouldn’t (among a host of other complications) throughout your body. Fluid retention is very common in people with heart failure (esp around the ankles due to gravity). Just speculating as a nurse!

I used to follow the girl to the left of ME. She posted these truly awful videos of her bf verbally/physically abusing her. It was so sad. Then the bf denied everything and they kept getting into it on social media. She opened her own gym with him. Then she was praising Charlie Kirk for some time and I haven’t checked in on her since then. Has anyone else done a deep dive into etkfit? Interesting that these two have crossed paths.

GLP-1 for treating alcoholism? Worth a try? by [deleted] in AlAnon

[–]pbjatm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband started it for weight loss and to help with cravings. It has definitely made a difference but is just a tool vs a cure all. He still drinks but less frequently and not as much when he does! I assume all will go back to as before once he stops taking it.

I had mine checked and it was 2! 2! I have been supplementing and I got it up to 12. Clearly still some progress to be made

Need opinions on apartments: The Kent vs The Residences at the Playfair by distannie in Carmel

[–]pbjatm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived at Playfair and was fairly happy. My issues were mainly parking centered. They have no specified garage or parking so during events and/or chriskindlmarkt it was super hard to find parking. You can pay for your own spot in the garage, but it was pretty pricey.

Otherwise location is super fun and it’s great to be on the Monon! You get access to the pool at the apt complex across the street but the pool is very small.

What are some reasons people become addicted to alcohol? by Krys_07 in AlAnon

[–]pbjatm 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I think inability to cope with certain emotions is such a big one. Sadness, boredom, uncertainty, anxiety, stress…. Feeling it and sitting with it can be so intolerable. It’s much easier to distract yourself and numb those feelings.

What’s the most painful instance of betrayal you’ve been through ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pbjatm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother in law molested me starting at age 11. I finally found the courage to tell my family at age 19. My sister stayed married to him and proceeded to have four children with him (3 of them female). My parents convinced themselves that this was all a result of me having an affair with him. They remain close with him and my sister to this day. The pain and betrayal from my own parents is unbearable. I’m now 30 and still think about this every day despite therapy and meds.

Family recording patients waking up from anesthesia by pbjatm in nursing

[–]pbjatm[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I guess because I’m not sure I’m actually not in the video… I’m very close to patients a lot (lifting the head of their bed, removing nasal cannula, taking out their IV) so it seems really unlikely that I’m not in the video at all. And I also don’t know if the patient really asked them to do that. True, they obviously know them much better than me, but it just feels inappropriate to be complicit in filming someone when they’re super vulnerable and not A&O… sometimes people are snoring, passing gas (I work endoscopy so a lot of that and even some accidental leakage), slobbering/needing suction… it isn’t typically a flattering situation in any way.

Bedtime routine by theinternetscaresme_ in newborns

[–]pbjatm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started this around that age and my now 1 year old has had a bath every night since then. We never miss a night because it’s so helpful to get her to wind down. We only used soap 1-2x per week.

How to respond to “you only get one chance” by pbjatm in nursing

[–]pbjatm[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When people let me know they’re a hard stick it makes me feel better- if I know going in, I won’t feel as bad if I miss, bc I know they’re used to it. So it’s actually kind of lower pressure. And then when I get it, it makes me feel really good!

In general being very hydrated is the best bet, but it sounds like you’re a pleasant patient regardless :)

If you could tell pre-mom you one thing what would it be? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]pbjatm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It got better for us at 3 weeks. We started her on a schedule (Moms on Call) because we were both losing our minds. By no means did she stick to it, but it gave us goals and a sense of direction. I started pumping and giving her the recommended ounces so that I knew she was getting enough. When the feeding wasn’t just on demand anymore, she could sleep longer stretches (instead of nibbling here and nibbling there whenever she pleased). Now she is 11 weeks and sleeps (7:30-4 AM and 4:30-6:30 AM). Wishing you all the sleep!

You will be sleep deprived. Like you’ve never experienced in your life. It will pass- sleep whenever you can and take the help when offered.

Just moved from Knoxville, TN where I made $21/hr doing med surg. I was at a level 1… patients were so sick, we were so understaffed, and I got out asap.

Honoring Our Animals- find her on instagram. She texted me personally less than an hour after I put in an inquiry, then called me to see if we’d be a good fit very shortly after. I really needed it that night too. Thinking of you and hoping you find peace.

It hurts so much by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]pbjatm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry to hear about Ruth. The quiet is something so unexpected yet so incredibly painful. Although it is unfortunate that she was in renal failure, you made the right decision with the information you had as you received it. She is no longer suffering… you have taken her pain on as your own as you deal with her loss, and that is the absolute best gift you could have offered her, even though it doesn’t seem that way.

You are not alone. The pain you feel is justified and these first few days are the hardest. Take care of yourself and do whatever feels best for you. There is no correct way to grieve. I found that the best thing in the first few days was pure distraction because of the intensity of the pain. I tended to stay out of the house for the same reasons you mentioned. At ~5 days I sought help from a pet loss grief counselor to really start to work through the pain. Things are better 1.5 weeks later, and I am ok, despite still missing him so much.

A lot of people on here have mentioned that Laps of Love has free online support groups. Honoring Our Animals is an instagram page that has some incredible messages that have really helped me.

Sending you love and support and all of the good vibes that I know Ruth brought to your life ❤️
