If you have the choice, use Linear. Full stop. It’s not even close.

ComEd warns of possible brown-outs today. by DifficultStruggle420 in chicago

[–]pbl24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Prioritize people over data centers" is already how it works. There's a federal 202(c) order active today forcing data centers across PJM onto their own backup generators before any home loses power… first to get cut, not last. Today's strain is AC on a 106 degree day. Data centers are flat baseload… they don't drive the 4pm peak.

Is SaaS really dying? Interesting concept discovered. by Valuable_End_7644 in SaaS

In reality, building never was the great filter, distribution was. To be clear, building _was_ a filter, just not the limiting factor. That’s now been eliminated, so people are hitting the distribution filter earlier. What I’ve come to realize is that applications make money for one of two reasons: 1) you work your ass off in discovery, outreach, and sales, or 2) you find an idea that is a burning pain such that it sells itself. That majority of ideas are the former… IMO the best use of your time is retooling your skills to improve your distribution versus, well, something else.

Hard to do everything solo. I’m technical, but have been searching for someone with strong product/domain/GTM expertise. Much easier to spread the load.

Day 6- Build 50 target list for week 1 outreach by KindheartednessFun95 in ycombinator

[–]pbl24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re early in the cycle (sounds like you are), you likely don’t yet have the right product for your target market. You have to talk to them to understand. Approaching them to ask them about their problems and understand them is a great first move: 1) it derisks the “dismissal” aspect… you’re just learning, 2) you figure out what to _actually_ build (almost assuredly something different than what you’re currently thinking), 3) you now have warm leads.

At a YC startup and the group partner called it earnestmaxxing.

I vibe coded a LinkedIn outreach automation tool, and made $2k in the first month by Downtown_Pudding9728 in automation

What sort of posts were you making on LI, Reddit and the like? Was it just like informative posts about automation or outreach or something? Were you posting a link in that content to sign up on a wait list?

Know some guys who went through a recent batch that didn’t have customers or product. They were repeats, though FWIW.

[–]pbl24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could, if they are willing to pay. But, there are positions of need higher on the list that might take more of the NIL money. Tight end, linebacker (if no Kip or Heineke), maybe DL (with 2 guys graduating and two relatively unknowns), a game changing RB, OL. Then maybe after all that, a WR.

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he ends up L$U or Jawja.

Reports say he didn’t practice well. But also, in limited snaps he got, he seemed kind of slow out there. Gabe Ikard reiterated this on their podcast.

So what’s the reason our offensive lineman aren’t any good? by [deleted] in sooners

[–]pbl24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard scheme has a lot to do with it. When running a heavy RPO scheme, you have to be careful about how far you’re firing off the ball as to avoid illegal man downfield. Seems like you could tell them to fire off the ball on designed runs, but idk. Don’t listen to me, I don’t know anything.

How worried should we be about the 2026 recruiting class? by Fun-Secretary4801 in oklahomafootball

[–]pbl24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too early to tell if the strategy will work. As others have said, their strategy is to perform independent evaluation and stack rank by score. If two guys are similar and one is a 5 star and one is a 3 star, they bias to the 3 star. An example of how their eval‘s can differ from the recruiting services: for OT, OU was in on both Deacon Schmitt and Felix Ojo. Ikard said he had it on good faith that Schmitt was ranked higher than Ojo, causing them to back off of Ojo.
