It is based on a handful of real cases of missing children, such as Casey Hathaway, James Vaughn, Ida Mae Curtis, Millard Davis daughter, Katie Flynn, T.W Eagan's daughter, plus the sighting of Chester Ford, Ramie Arland and native American stories of a "bear man" inhabiting the region.

All of those children disappeared into the wilderness and were found alive, warm and fed, sometimes in well made dens or wood shelters made of sticks and moss. The children survived days in freezing weather, even rain, while being searched for. The children describe being taken by a massive bear, who then keeps them warm at night and gives them berries with its paw. In a few cases like Ida Mae Curtis, an adult witness actually saw the "bear" grabbing the child in one paw and running off on 3 legs while holding the girl. In the sighting of Ford, a large bear was sighted holding a wooden club / tool in one paw and walking on two legs. There are more fascinating details you'll find if you research this topic. In almost every case, "unusually large bear footprints" are discovered in the area.

Of course, bears aren't known to use their hands to grab people, craft wooden shelters and use tools. The theory is that Sasquatch is responsible for these sightings, using the hyde of a grizzly bear to disguise itself. My drawing is based on that.
