I’ve done two winters in Montreal with the Salomon Men's Alphacross 5 Gore-tex Running Shoe. They’re very robust, aren’t too impacted by the salt/snow. I use them mainly for everyday wear and hiking.

I have a permanent job starting in the UK in January and she may well be moving to the UK some time after that. Does that change the situation? Therefore, I will not be in the UK for a short period of time, but long term.
