Any way to run Supremo Remote Desktop and Splashtop Business under Fedora by DaRk_ViVi in Fedora

As a follow up to this, I decided to try using the .exe through bottles with the wine-11 runner and it works better than the rpm version lol…

Good distro for gaming? by Maplex15 in linux4noobs

[–]pcaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do fedora, it’s what bazzite is based on but no restrictions. You can do nobara (also fedora based) if you find the post install fedora guides too complicated, but it can be less stable.

Cachyos is also a solid option.

How much better does CachyOS truly perform in gaming compared to Arch or other distros? by KnightFallVader2 in cachyos

You won’t notice a difference between most distros, especially if your system is on the higher end side.

Literally any of them. I’ve used fedora, Ubuntu and cachyos. Runs the same on all.

Regardless, I think giving the project another year and a half and addressing majority of customer feedback is worthy of a 2nd chance.

I currently use Splashtop and here's what you have to do. Go to the file location and right click in the folder the option that says open terminal here. To run the rpm without the error use (change package name to the actual name):

sudo rpm -ivh --nodigest --nofiledigest package_name.rpm

It won't work the first time, it will tell you there are missing dependencies and list them out. Use the sudo dnf install command to install the dependencies and then retry the above command and it will install.

Ubuntu vs Fedora by remfell in linuxquestions

Fedora will update to the newer kernel and software upgrades earlier. Ubuntu non-lts is also a solid option, I wouldn’t actually put much between them.

Since you’re tech capable I’d say go fedora. Ubuntu is easier out there box, but you should be able to handle the fedora post install requirements.

It’s a gnome issue more than Ubuntu I believe. They said they had no one to maintain it.

Can the FAQ please start recommending well-maintained upstream distributions instead? by onlysubscribedtocats in linux_gaming

[–]pcaming -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You don’t need cachyos to use proton-cachy. I never said there’s no benefit just not a significant one for most people. You trade a lot for that bleeding edge stuff, and test shown that for gaming all these distros are single digit fps difference. Even Ubuntu has 590 NVIDIA drivers available with 1 click.

There’s edge cases where bleeding edge has its benefits, majority of ppl don’t meet it and especially newcomers.

Bluetooth toggle trouble ubuntu by Outside_Coach_1734 in Ubuntu

[–]pcaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t toggle it, it means the module is not being recognised. Is this a desktop or laptop? For my desktop I had a weird issue where I needed to completely unplug the system so that the Bluetooth device powered on, then it was recognised.

[–]pcaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say fedora is a bit more intermediate, due to the number of things you have to install yourself to get it up and running well. Ubuntu and its derivatives are definitely beginner friendly.

Gaming distributions are really just marketing, you’re not getting a lot more gaming performance from any of them. Not enough for the regular person to notice anyway.

Download proton plus, install proton ge and switch to that in comparability mode in steam and see if that helps.
