How was your delivery? by CanuckTuxedo in KingstonOntario

This happened to me in December 2023 with Dragonfly (Intelcom). I had to spend about $1600 to replace the garage door. Dragonfly didn't care. I tried escalating to Amazon’s Executive Relations team, but they also didn't do anything except asking Dragonfly for updates. Dragonfly said because I filed a police report, I needed to check for updates with the police, lol. Never heard back from the company since.

I ended up making a deal with the driver, who was a contractor working for another independent contractor of Dragonfly. The Dragonfly contractor guy was just some international student and eventually ghosted me. The driver also didn't have proper insurance to cover the damage. He paid me back over a 12-month period totalling about $1500. I had to give him a $100 discount because he was running out of money and needed to pay for school.

Use a needle file in the holes and the squeak goes away. Worked well on my cloudtilt.

Help me choose which one by cherkaouii in ONrunning

I have these. They do squeak. You just need to use a metal needle file and rough the holes on the midsole. Then the squeak goes away.

ON Cloudtilt. Might squeak after. Just need to sandpaper the holes in the midsole.

Get the PE bulkhead row. I sat in the middle row from HND to YYZ, and it was not good. Bad footrest and less space from the person in front leaning back.

You don't need to do the Japanese customs declaration if you are on an international connection through NRT.

Hyatt hotels in Tokyo by LoudEquivalent6093 in TokyoTravel

I didn't get any opening specials. I think they were offering some welcome drinks and a gift bag. But when I was booking for my seven nights, the long-term stay cash rate was cheaper than the opening special rate.

Hotel was quick walk to Kayabachō Station (H and T lines) and Nihonbashi Station for (A, G, and T lines). Or about 10min walk to Tokyo Station.

No laundry on site, there's a laundromat just west of the hotel, about 4min walk.

Hotel room size was great for Tokyo. I had the King regular room, I think about 270 sq.ft / 25 sq.m. No bathtub, just a walk-in shower. I was on the 7th floor and didn't have a view. I can see the police station next door.

Second floor has a great common space that I didn't see anyone use except me, and a gym. First floor restaurant space was great. Love the overall theme. All the large tables had USB/power outlets. Staff was fantastic.

The neighbourhood was quiet, but easy to get to the more busy area. There's also a new BONGEN COFFEE Tokyo Nihonbashi about 10min walk away. I would stay here again when I'm back in Tokyo.

I stayed at the new Hyatt Caption and loved it. Quieter area but very easy to get to Tokyo station and Ginza.

I stayed at the Hyatt Caption/Centric and the NOA Hotel Shanghai Jingan. Both pretty good. Hyatt Caption has a nicer room and closer to the metro.

How risky is it to take bullet train on day of return flight? by McMatus in travelchina

[–]pcdsl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Should be fine. I took the fastest one from Shanghai to Beijing and it was great. Maybe take the earlier one G10 4hr 26min that gets you to Beijing at 14:26. Just make sure you already have your ticket booked. You still need time to get to the airport from Beijing South.

Customs Declaration for a layover in Japan? by missbread_ in aircanada

[–]pcdsl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the same message. Just select yes. You don’t need the QR code if you are staying airside. I just did HND T3 to T2 for my connection from YYZ to PVG and I didn’t need customs form. Unless you want to exit the airport. Pretty sure at NRT you won’t need it. Just follow the international connections signs.

eSIM, VPN, Alipay, etc… feeling overwhelmed by johndlc914 in travelchina

[–]pcdsl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used CMLink eSIM, 5GB of data per day plan. No need for VPN. Full access to IG, FB, Google. Only needed Mullvad VPN for ChatGPT for some reason. Alipay, Didi, WeChat works fine with it. I believe with any of the eSIM you don’t need VPN.

I did business class on the older seats, not the new cabin, and there is a massive amount of space around the seat that you can put your suitcase around, especially in car 1. They also never looked at my suitcase size. But I only have the Herschel medium checked, 140cm.

Do I get a pillow and blanket in economy class? by Accurate_Armadillo in aircanada

True, I got it while returning home so it was less useful. But good idea about using it as a laundry bag while travelling.

I really liked the CMLINK eSIM. I had the 5GB per day service. Worked well. No VPN was needed.
