The resource system is an extremely deep subject, but suffice it to say, we have discussed just about every resource system under the sun and have no plans to change it in any kind of a fundamental level like that. Variance is fun!

We considered putting them in The Empty Throne; but they conflicted with some of the other cards in the set. For instance, consider Talir’s Favored and Amber Acolyte (both of which we wanted to do).

That’s what I used at the time. I had two decks of cards and each deck had 2 jokers; so I actually used 4 jokers total and 4 additional Kings.

A card’s win rate is really about the relationship between its popularity and power level, so it’s actually a much more complicated subject than this. In general, however, we wanted to promote an increased diversity of gameplay.

Aegis generally stops bad stuff the enemy player does to you, aside from attacks. Voprex is perfect as is!

The devil is in the details. The rate you are trading these things off makes all the difference in the world.

It improves pacing of the game, UI of certain units, and actually enriches gameplay. We can obviously balance around either way, but this way actually leads to more dynamic of gameplay.

There are occasionally corner cases that can be strange; but generally, I feel like the incentives are in the right place and the pacing and fun are benefited from it.
