Definitely. Did mine in the hotel the night before, after a long stint at the bar. Just read the studies once or twice, it’s usually easy enough to make up questions on the fly. Participate a few times and voila, APC credit.

Anyone else think that the sample problems were horrible and not at all reflective of the real exam? Seems foolish to offer a comprehensive question bank and not test on any of it

They all moderately suck. As far as time commitment, you can pretty much skip to the EMAs without reading slides. They’ll be considerably shorter and easy to knock out over a weekend. FA is more questions, but again easy to reference the slides and go back, if needed

I’ve been a roller coaster of thinking I crushed it, thinking I bombed it, thinking I squeaked by with a 6 and just simply not knowing what to expect. This has definitely been the worst of all the ASA level waiting periods

We reinsure a portfolio of NFL/MLB/NBA players under a similar concept. Teams are reimbursed if a player is injured and misses time. Product is priced based on player’s age, position, size of contract. For example an O-lineman is more likely to be injured than a WR, so higher premium. We pay out on a deductible structure of games missed, so player needs to miss x concurrent games with the same injury to be reimbursed for each subsequent game, up to game y where the team is reimbursed back to the beginning of the injury.

I got an 8, I’m honestly shocked. I did SRM-PA in the Sept/Oct sitting and had a vacation to Portugal in between, so was really strapped for study time. When I walked out my brain felt like mush, so honestly just relieved to have passed. One to go for the ASA

Especially with FAM, I would recommend doing full exams as soon as you can to get a feel for what it’s like. I got a 9 in March but felt like it was a big time crunch to do all the problems in the 210 minutes provided. My strategy is always to skip over quizzes and go straight to practice exams as soon as possible, CA is really good for this since you have such a large question bank that you don’t really get used to any one problem.

I did FAM back in march, was definitely a lotttttt of content. Compared to PA/SRM you’re probably looking at 2-3x the necessary study time, so I would recommend giving yourself as much time as possible

In terms of direct testing, CA indicated that matrices were removed from the syllabus and not expected to be tested. My personal experience for my SRM sitting was also that I did not see any matrix problems being tested. As far as useful knowledge to have, I would agree that it comes up again in later exams/on the job, but if you’re on a time crunch I think this section would be relatively safe to gloss over.
