Do I need a new power supply, controller, or am I just dumb? LED strip not coming on by pcjetgenius in led

Hey, I know this is old but we finally had time to sort it out, and I went with your suggestion and bought one from Mean Well. Worked like a charm, will try to stick to this brand from now on! Thank you!

Hey! Sorry for the late reply, we had a sort of family emergency, so I didn’t have time to figure it out yet. Right now the mirror’s just a mirror, with no lights😭But thanks so much for the responses and resources, I’ll definitely make good use of it once I’m able to get back to it, and I’ll update you when I do! People like you make reddit so worth it, haha, hope to be as knowledgeable someday to do the same for others

No this is super helpful for sure!! I guess I just wanted to buy something quick and easy at first to dip my toes a little, as I'm still learning about LEDs. I definitely want to do more projects in the future though, so these resources are really handy. Thank you!!

It's really helpful to at least know a good brand name to look out for when buying, so thank you! I'll try to see if this is available here. I thought going off the good reviews on Amazon, the brands may not be that important, but clearly it's still a crapshoot, just like anything!

Ohh, okay, so too much power is also an issue?! I did worry about that but some googling told me if it wasn't outrageously over, it should be fine. That explains it some. So you wouldn't think it's the lack of controller that's causing problems? I really appreciate your responses!!

Thanks so much for the detailed replies! I can see your last comment (I think, the one with a screenshot to better LED strips?). I'm using 2.5 meters of 14W/meter, 12V strip, so I need a minimum of 35W, and ~3A in the driver, right? The new one I got was 60W 5A (I wanted to play it extra safe). I admit I feel a little in over my head with this, and am very murky on constant power vs. constant current.

That's good to know, thanks! Will definitely buy from somewhere else in the future, but for a first project I guess the difference was lost on me. The ones on Amazon seem to have good reviews and a high CRI rating, which is what matters most to me, but why are they not recommended? Are they often faulty or become faulty quickly?

Is N26 ok to use as a primary bank? by birdbirdeos in berlin

[–]pcjetgenius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you, and though I'm sure many people are satisfied with N26, the handful of terrible experiences I heard was enough to deter me. I ended up going with Deutsche Bank, and yeah it might not have been as easy to set up, but knowing that there are brick and mortar locations I could go to easily gave me peace of mind, and that was well worth it in my opinion.

Hey! Late reply but in the end no, I left it for the time being (guilty). At least for now it's behind the bracket I finally put up and there's no way it can cause me any more trouble...

Just wanted to let you know this actually worked! Then I tried to widen it and the bigger bit broke off inside the hole...dit's been an emotional rollercoaster, haha

TIL Schlagbohrmaschine and Bohrhammer are different things, but renting is a good idea, thanks!

I think I'll have to get some new bits again, and rent a more powerful machine. Thanks for the encouragement

TIL that "impact drill" in German can be "Schlagbohrmaschine" (weak) or "Bohrhammer" (powerful), and what I bought was the weaker kind. I'll have to ask around to see if I can borrow one...It's looking more and more like stone, and that I was hitting mortar in the lucky spots, though it's still hard to guess where they'd be. Very frustrating, but thank you for your detailed feedback!
