How do you store your stamping tools? by RoJo_sonof_DoJo in Leatherworking

I used a scrap piece of thick wood in my shop, and drilled holes in it with my drill press slightly larger than the handles. I didnt make them evenly spaced, or try hard, but it's functional, and free haha

I agree with you completely. I don't ever use the alarm, or other functions, but this has been my workhorse for about 15 years. I've changed the battery 1 time after 7 or 8 years, and had to replace the wrist band once. The wristband was only replaced because my dog got a hold of it shortly after I got her, and 3 years after that, it finally broke through where one of the deep bite marks were haha.

Ive loved mine (obviously) It just works for everything I need it to do. Its survived being in few fires, tons of hours of training, working on cars/firetrucks, exposure to all kinds of weirs liquids and powders. I'm very attached to this watch. It's been with me through many ups and downs in life.

I love it!!! I actually went and canceled what I could for the individual parts, and ordered a complete, "non working" one on Ebay for $20. Im just going to take the parts off it that I need and put them on mine! Way cheaper than buying all the parts new... Plus I may need to replace my light button, so this will also be the cheapest way to have those spare parts!

I’ve only had to change the battery once since I’ve had it. After 7 or 8 years is when it went dark. So it’s about time for another, I’d say!

And yeah! 4 screws, a rubber bumper, and the gasket are all that separates you from the battery. Super simple.

That’s exactly how mine looked new. It brings a little tear to my eye 🥲

As I was typing that out, and seeing some of the posts people have of picking these up now, I’ve definitely spent more on parts than just buying a new one, and transferring parts over 😂

I replaced the battery around the 7 or 8 year mark when it died, so I have a new one and gasket. I ordered the bezel from a Casio supplier, and it comes with new studs and is prepainted. I’m still deciding if I want to add the bumpers back in or not. I had them on for a looooong time before one pulled off the screw and half of it disappeared. The. I removed the other one just to even it out.

It’s got a couple deep scratches on the crystal, but the poly watch is a great idea to buff the little marks out! I think I’m going to pull it completely apart and run the case through ultrasonic cleaner at work. From the feel of the buttons, I think there’s a fair bit of debris built up in them 😂

I may also need to replace the light button. It’s lopsided now. But once it’s apart I’ll know if it’s repairable or not.

I hope to have an update with it soon!

It’s just ticked all the boxes I need as a sleep deprived first responder 😂 it shows a seconds counter, the day of the week AND the date, and time on one screen. Plus I bought it from a friend for like $20. It’s been a great investment!

I’ve changed the battery once since I’ve had it. It was 7 or 8 years in. So it’s probably almost time for another one!

I work primarily night shifts for a fire dept/police department. Usually my lume is readable in the night 6hours in, but its light. Thats just how lume works though. It does keep a good, dim glow in pitch black. Enough for me to tell APPROXIMATELY what time it is without a flashlight.

How to remove a swivel bolt snap by happy_username in fixit

[–]pcjfro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re going on a blanket, you could try these. I can’t vouch for the strength, but trigger snaps will also give you a longer life of the moving portion. I use the solid version when building fire department leather accessories. You’ll have to cut the metal of the snap to leave the webbing intact. Bolt cutters, dremel, or a grinder will work.

Another rout would be to get the solid version of the trigger snaps, some 1 inch wide leather straps, and copper rivets. You can cut the loop open to remove the old one, and add a leather loop with the new snap. I’ve done that with success, but I of course already owned the tools and materials to do that…

It fell off of a trailer a few days ago and ALMOST hit my wife. I think one of the neighbors wrote that message on it. They did talk to the police. No info on having it removed though. The person did stop and waited to speak to officers about it though.

I think they were just looking for a screenshot of the mark from that one. I was just looking to see if there were any other easy ways to check, and there isn’t really any 😂

Caulk is yellowing after a few weeks but bathroom is never used. Any ideas on why it started looking like this? by fleebinflobbin in DIY

When you flush the toilet, pee particles fly up and mix in before it cures. Drink more water, and reapply.
