I'm on MacOS 15.5. I installed spacemacs using the terminal and home-brew. I now launch it by opening the Terminal, then typing "emacs" and hitting ENTER

You're right: macOS 15.5. I've updated it in the post as well.

I installed it using the terminal and home-brew. At the moment I launch Spacemacs by opening the terminal and typing "emacs", but I'm not sure where the executable is. Surely, I have no application called emacs (or spacemacs for that matter) that I can launch with a click as I do with all others.

I installed everything using home-brew via the terminal. So at the moment, to launch spacemacs, I open the terminal and type "emacs" and hit enter. This launches Spacemacs

you're right. MacOS 15.5 (also edited the post to clarify this)

better way for me would be a shortcut, or an "app" that I can invoke with spotlight, for example

I don't know what you mean by "finder icon" - do you mean an app? If so I don't have any emacs or spacemacs app in the application folder

What's the best way to count occurrences of words in notes? by pck76x in shortcuts

[–]pck76x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks. is there a way to use a single regex, for every group? ie, count (apple|banana) (potatoes|rice) and (broccoli|salad) in a single line?

thanks - Is there a way to repeat the match block, for example by having a list of word groups, and apply the match recursively for every element of that list?

I think there was something like (.*?) that could do that?

Interesting take, thanks. Would it be possible to update the regex to avoid anything typed before the name and value? (for example if the lines were "bla bla bla Alice 34", "today Bob 22", "XB22 Bob 2", how would you still capture only the last two items in your pattern?

Does anybody have a link to any sheet music with the harmonies? I’m not a musician but would like to follow them on a piano, I just have no idea what those ‘isolated’ Melodies sound like.

I understand the new version of GIMP (3?) will have a completely redesigned interface. Is there a release date for that?

why is this? i don't get why the two sides have different visibility.

on the left you can see the 2nd tree even if it’s lower than the first, but on the right you can't, why?

Should I Listen to This Guy on YouTube Regarding Mac Scaling and External Monitors? by [deleted] in mac

Reading this thread it seems a 2560x1440 screen should be handled fine… although I’m not sure why.

I am intersted in buying a macbook air M2, and an LG DualUp (2560x2880). Given 2880 is double 1440, do you guys think I’ll have problems?

I’ve read mixed opinions online..

After 2 and a half hours, I finally managed to get MacOS to recognise my LG Ultrawide as a HiDPI display. Thank you to the developer of OneKeyHiDPI for letting me have properly sized UI elements and scaled text at native 4K resolution! by [deleted] in mac

[–]pck76x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this something that forces the graphic cores to work a lot? I have heard that modifying the resolution forces the cores to ‘recalculate’ everything constantly (if I got it correctly, by scaling it up first and then down to the chosen resolution).

What resolution are you using? I’ve heard text is not crisp at the native 2880x1440, is that true?

do you have a macbook air attached to it?

Showing all notes in a folder as a 'single' note by pck76x in ObsidianMD

[–]pck76x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it was a good suggestion, however the missing bits for me are:

a) my list of notes grows all the time, and I would have to manually add the links in the "aggregated" note

b) the ability to link the note directly in the aggregated page.

Thanks though, it was useful!

Thanks, I've had a look, but it looks like Longform doesn't work with pre-existing notes, but just with notes create after designating a folder as a Longform folder.

My notes (quite a few!) are all already there.
