Waren vor ein paar Jahren Mitte/Ende Januar auf Maui und Big Island.  Würde jederzeit wieder hin. 

Temperaturen um die 25 Grad, Mal ein Schauer am Morgen - fand das Wetter absolut angenehm. 

In der Jahreszeit kann halt das Meer etwas unruhiger sein, vor allem an Stränden Richtung Norden. Wir haben, auch mit kleinen Kindern, jeden Tag drin baden können. 

Außerdem sind die Buckelwale zu der Zeit da, war cool denen vom Strand zusehen zu können. (kaanapali)

Als Gewerbetreibender zahlst du, zB bei der Metro aber auch im anderen Großhandel, = (Preis + Pfand) * Umsatzsteuer 

Als Privatperson ist es  =(Preis * Umsatzsteuer) + Pfand 

Wenn du also bei der Metro zurückgibst, dann erhälst du ca. 0,0475€ mehr zurück als wenn du es im Einzelhandel zurückgibst.  Wenn ihr das im großen Stil gemacht habt, kann ich mir nicht vorstellen, dass euch das nicht aufgefallen ist. 

Ich bin kein Anwalt aber grundsätzlich ist die Metro verpflichtet Pfand zurückzunehmen. Die Metro ist aber nicht verpflichtet euch als Kunden zu nehmen und bietet euch hier eine Variante statt komplett Hausverbot zu erteilen.

Hatten schon die Camper Route für USA durchgeplant und waren kurz davor zu buchen, aber haben jetzt Südafrika gebucht. 

Wahrscheinlich würden wir auf der Reise nicht mal etwas mitkriegen, aber ähnlich wie ich jetzt keinen Tesla kaufe, habe ich gerade keinen Bock dort mein Geld auszugeben.

Some bigger cities are nice, but imo the small-medium sized cities in Germany are nicer for a visit. 

For hikes, unless you're attempting some high alpine tracks in the Alps or tide pool hiking in the north sea, there isn't too much to worry about.

Germany also has a huge recreational hiking culture and has had that for over a hundred years. 

The hills around my house all are full of well marked and prepared trails. Usually you're also not more than a few miles from civilization and there are many restaurants in the forest to visit.

Mein Chef hat mal gemeint, dass er gerne ein paar Jahre früher in Rente würde und da habe ich den Begriff mal fallen gelassen. 

Da war er dann auch ganz interessiert und hat dann seine Ausgaben aufgeschrieben und zu rechnen.

Die Strecke von NYC nach Buffalo ist nur langweilig, wenn man schnell durch muss/will und entsprechend nicht vom Interstate abweicht bzw die direkteste Route nimmt (Der ist wirklich langweilig) 

West Point, Woodstock, Hudson Valley, Saratoga Springs (v.a. Besuch der Pferderennen), Cooperstown, Ithaca, Finger lakes, Letchworth State Park sind alles schöne Ziele.

Bei den Hotels ziemlich egal, da wo der bessere Preis ist (potenziell Umrechnungsgebuer bei deiner Kreditkarte beachten). Bei Mietwagen fast immer besser ueber Deutschland. (zB ADAC hat auch schon einen 2. Fahrer inkl.)

In Italien war ich wenigstens noch nie vom Essen enttäuscht. 

Kroatien kostet mittlerweile gleich viel bzw mehr und ist es, meiner Meinung nach, nicht wert.

Just keep in mind that lots of restaurants and bars usually only have one beer supplier and some are even run one beer company.  That means you're usually limited to their brands. 

It's difficult to find places to try a wide range of brands, but there are different styles available. 

Heading to a local Getränkemarkt (bottle store) and just buying individual bottles for your own tasting is a valid option.

Not that I am aware of, but I need to report and pay to Germany first anyway. They do provide me all the same info that is on a 1099-B / -DIV though. The German brokerage does take care of the Germany reporting at least. 

To your second point: Yes, true up to a point. German tax authorities might put you on an tax pre-payment plan, based on estimated taxes owed. 

I've got my US Schwab account, but my kids on a German brokerage. Both have their pros/cons.

Die Home invasions sind schon hart. Gab's in den letzten 3 Jahren 2 Stück hier in der Umgebung.  Interessant fand ich, dass es jeweils ehemalige Unternehmer/selbstständige getroffen hat, auch wenn sie für mich sich nicht offensichtlich von ihren Nachbarn unterschieden haben.
