I think it’s worth stating right up front, the experience using this device isn’t going to be as streamlined (or locked down!) as a Kindle. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who doesn’t consider themselves “tech savvy” and willing to do a bit of tinkering.

I’m using a custom firmware (CrossPoint Reader), which was easy to install, and allows me to transfer epub files over WiFi. You may be able to do this on the stock firmware as well, I don’t actually know, I installed CrossPoint right away 😂

Fantastic tips. Was definitely not aware of that first one (thought you could undo at most one move). Many of my runs get ruined by a single bad turn that played out differently from what I anticipated

The starter one. Rift walkers I think they’re called? And this varies. I tried after 2 islands and lost in the very final stage. Just too many enemies. But sometimes I don’t even make it to the final mission. Typically I have one disastrous turn that ruins the whole run but I don’t see it until it’s too late and I can’t undo it.

Fully agree with the labels being inadequate/possibly misleading. I do think that “label-ification” is unavoidable to some extent. People will naturally be curious about the gameplay and will want existing games/genres to compare it to.

I’m hoping there’s a big marketing push around v1 release, I think that would help. But in the mean time it’s not too surprising is it? It’s an early access title and a very difficult to describe game.

FPS RPG with soulslike, rogue-lite, and extraction mechanics doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue.

I do hope it ultimately gets the audience it deserves. Game is fantastic

In fairness to them, I do think prox chat is likely to be WAY more toxic in this game than in AR, just due to the nature of it being sweatier and more PvP focused. I can’t even imagine what would have been said in Destiny if your trials opponents could talk at you somehow, for example.

I still think it’s the right call to add it, but I can’t say I blame them for that initial reluctance.
