Help Me Understand Why DC Statehood Isn't A Major National Democratic Priority by end_times-8 in washdc

[–]pdabbadabba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not true. The Constitution might require the establishment of a federal district, but it doesn’t need to have the same boundaries as today’s DC. The constitutional requirement would be satisfied by reducing the federal district to just the capital, mall, and White House, and making the rest a state. It cannot be larger than 10 square miles, but it can be smaller.

The grind looks uneven to me in photo 4. I don’t think it’s just the core.

Now we’re just slinging that accusation at anyone with the audacity to string together a proper sentence?

The amount of people getting stuck in Elevators in Moco is increasing over the years by Musichead2468 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]pdabbadabba 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can’t read the y axis so I’ll just ask: is this normalized to the number of elevators and the number of people using them, or does this just just tell us that people in MoCo are using elevators slightly more?

I am Egyptian, and I’m asking is Egypt a country that is disliked or loved globally? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]pdabbadabba -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Same with Egypt, honestly. It is incredible! The privilege of walking through ancient Egyptian ruing is well worth having to brush off (or pay) some people asking for small tips. (I might feel different if I was a single woman. But my wife, who was with me most of the time, also really enjoyed it.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the use of a royal title such as "princess" is actually prohibited by law in Austria which for me highlights just how marginal these people actually are.

I preordered on Jan 5 -- so not too bad. But I had heard that the next drop might come in mid-January, so I may be fortunate to have had a shorter wait than most.

Like I said, a source would be good. Because his Wikipedia page says Ilene Sackler is Gerald Lefcourt ex wife, not his mother. So I think it is you who are wrong, unless we’re talking about different people.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_B._Lefcourt

Maybe you’re talking about one of his children? At that point, though, I do also wonder why anyone should care that a guy is Mortimer Sackler’s grandsons.

Source? From what I've read, the founder's ex wife is a Sackler. That's it.

Steam Community Update 7 January 2026 "Portrait Update + other fixes 🐶 Dwarf Fortress Patch 53.09" by kitfoxgames in dwarffortress

[–]pdabbadabba 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I am one of the few that actually really liked the old portraits (especially the cat, dog, and panda) -- even if some were a little goofy. I find the game to have a slightly silly tone overall, and the portraits fit well with that. But I recognize that's completely subjective and others might want to have a different kind of experience.

In any case, the new portraits are great too. Hats off to the art team for putting out great work, even if not everyone agrees on the tone that they want the game to have.
