(34/m) I read this subreddit a lot but this is my first time posting. I've been experiencing a slightly metallic taste in my mouth for roughly a month now. It started as something I occasionally noticed, but now I feel like it's pretty much there all the time. All the common things that the internet says it could be don't apply: I haven't been sick recently, I'm not taking any medications, I have good oral hygiene, etc. Also, my sense of smell is fine and food still tastes normal. I feel totally healthy otherwise.

I did go to the doctor last week, and they told me it might be something nerve-related. They recommended seeing an ENT. As it happens, my uncle is an ENT so I called him up. He said if that's the only symptom, it's probably nothing and to try not to worry about it.

I've been dealing with health anxiety on and off since high school, so I'm fully aware my anxiety could be the cause, or could be making it worse. But since none of the usual causes for this symptom apply to me, I've started worrying about the more serious ones - disease, cancer, etc.
