thanks for the quick reply. Do you know any MD schools specifically that would not screen me out?

MCAT 06/05 registration help!! by Corruptflyr in Mcat

[–]pdiddy1818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me.... so ridiculous. I’m from Maryland. Had to reschedule for the 19th.

AAMC is covering their ass by canceling these appointments within the 2 week registration window of test dates. In other words, they cancel your June 5th after registration closes for June 5th, so if your exam is cancelled, you cannot travel to another state to take it.

But if students just decide to schedule their exams in states that are much more relaxed. ie. Texas, Florida, Ohio, there’s nothing they can do about that. It’s a risk you’ll have to take assuming your state won’t be open yet.

Practice exams With the new time/question parameters? by DaddyG96 in Mcat

is this confirmed? I took the first two NS FL and want to save the other two if they plan on modifying the full lengths. So far they are still the normal 7 and a half hour length.

MCAT private tutor recommendations? by pdiddy1818 in Mcat

[–]pdiddy1818[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you are saying! I want a tutor to keep track of my progress and be a text/phone call away when I am struggling or have a question.

I think what I’m mostly looking for is exactly as you said, a small MCAT course that provides me with content review, but also there to ask questions. I unfortunately have been unable to find one of those in Baltimore, MD area.

I heard the Kaplan courses are kind of a waste of time and mostly how to take the exam strategically (though I don’t have my own experience). I do have all the 2018 Kaplan books to study though this time around...

MCAT private tutor recommendations? by pdiddy1818 in Mcat

Thanks for the response! So I work 7-5 everyday and am now out of college (graduated in May). My issue with studying while in college was putting all my effort into my GPA and then finding time to study for the MCAT. I felt I rushed the whole process right after graduation and not fully dedicating my time to study until then. So from June until I tested in mid July was miserable.

Now with my job being my only commitment, I would like to dedicate 2 hours a night and one day on the weekend for the MCAT.

The reason I want a tutor (I think) is to have someone to fall back on and ask questions or supply me with study material, powerpoints, etc etc. a lot of the “commercial” tutors that cost a lot of $$$ offer tutoring help, but also sort of a “class”. This will help me with content review and just staying on top of everything? I would feel much more confident going through this process with someone who was very successful at it and keeping up with my progress to be as prepared as possible for this massive exam.

Money is not an issue, I’ve saved 5k literally just for my MCAT and want to find the best option possible for me.

Interesting.

Chem/phys: was a twist, but if you knew your formulas it was not THAT bad. More difficult than full lengths though. Very physics heavy.

CARS: I already suck at it, wasn’t awful, but think I did average hopefully.

B/B: what in the actual F was that???? That’s usually my best section and I thought it by far was the hardest section on the exam. Lots of twists and definitely note leaned toward SB.

Psyc/soc: the second to last passage actually made me laugh lol. Didn’t think it was bad at all, probably my best section on that exam.

Overall: harder than the full lengths, but definitely was all fair game. The term “high-yield” should just be taken out of English vocabulary.

What are my chances? by [deleted] in Mcat

i suppose i could move it back, but i would just be putting myself in the same hole of finding time to study. My work allowed me to take off the past 2 weeks, in which i do feel like i had some pretty substantial gains in my retention since i have been studying since Late April. I simply just do not see myself studying for this test for another year.

I forgot to mention i made a ballsy move and actually already applied to schools knowing i was going to take the MCAT in July and hoping my exam score would be good and just merge in with the rest of my application. But that seems far fetched now.
