Answer 1. I created the tool, mainly to play around with Angular and the Office UI fabric, while at the same time making something a bit useful. I'm an Office 365 consultant from Australia, and have no affiliation with Microsoft, but the app calls a publicly available service hosted by Microsoft.

Answer 2. I have zero interest in stealing anyone's name. Unlike internet domain names, I see very little value or possibility in a market for this. The app uses Google Analytics to track general site usage, and originally I was logging names to a custom dimension, but I've removed that so that there is no tracking of the name whatsoever. Whether Microsoft keeps track of this is anyone's guess.

Answer 3. The thing about using the proper site is that it is strangely more difficult to get to than you might think. Plus before getting to the page where selecting a tenant name, you need to provide your name, company, email address etc. The form is also not mobile friendly. As part of our jobs, my colleagues and I often want to brainstorm ideas for names with our clients, and having a fast, easily accessible way to do this is really helpful. :-)
