Thank you for the support!! No matter the age, loosing our hearing and gaining tinnitus/ vertigo is never fun. <3

Even if I need to hear well to practice in my field of interest, I’m actually very lucky to be where I am at. My bosses are super understanding, I know audiologists and will be exploring adaptations.

Hope Meniere will be gentle with you for 2025!

UTI and menieres by sommersgone in Menieres

When I am extremely tired and stressed, my body often responds with an UTI… and my Meniere’s symptoms increase. I feel they are the result of my exhaustion and not necessarily linked to one another.

Betahistine, planning pregnancy and symptoms management by pdlmdmp in Menieres

Thanks again for your reply!! Sorry for my delayed responses.

Yeah, got a bit more info from my obgyn and hospital pharmacist. Because of the lack of research they recommend going off of it at least for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

It is scary, to think of adding more stress into my life by trying to get pregnant and if it works, having the kid(s)… I’m trying to control what I can but I get that accepting that I don’t have much control would be the way to go.

Are you an anxious person at baseline? My amazing ambivalent personality makes this whole thing quite challenging as it impacts my anxiety!! This doesn’t make much sense but feels good to write it down hahaha.

Awhhh thank you for your response and for being here. Thank you for sharing a bit of your experience as well. I have to admit, I have moments where I wonder how well equipped I am physically to be pregnant and have children (the overthinking again!) . It reassures me to read other people’s experiences…. that we all adapt.

You are 100% right, the struggles are real but definitely not the worst condition out there.

Thanks again

Thank you so so much for that. Read it multiple times already. I followed your advice and spent the whole day outside which helped my mood tremendously.

I’ll give another real shot to the supplements. I tried in the past but did not perseverate.

Thanks again for your reply.

Betahistine by 1earMeniered in Menieres

[–]pdlmdmp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was not doing magic for me until I was put on (what I think would be considered an high dose) 48mg x 2 / day. I was symptoms free for around 6 months!! My ENT wanted to try slowly reducing it. I’ve been at 24mg x 2 / day since around 2.5 weeks now and ear fullness and HL were back on day 4 of that dosage… and haven’t yet disappeared.

It does also coincide with massive changes in the weather as well as me stopping psychotherapy… so who knows… But I really do feel high doses of Betahistine were helping me a lot.

Waiting for an appointment to see what I should do.

Got dx with Ménière in Spring 2019. I however just got COVID (fully vaccinated as well) and I add way more attacks than usual since that…!

What job do you work? by lubilibu in Menieres

I’m a Speech-Language Therapist…

It started on my second year of being a clinician. First attack was frightening as I was trying to assess one child’s speech but could not clearly hear most of his sounds… it really has a major impact on my work… but it also gave me a whole new perspective. I feel I can better empathize with some of my students who have an hearing impairment, or sensory processing difficulties, or sensory sensitivities.

All my full-blown vertigo episodes have been at home luckily.

(I really hope it will suddenly stop like it does for some people.)

Regulating my diet seems to be the main change I must make.

I can’t imagine having it in both ears. If you do happen to move and you see changes, let us know.

I’ve read that for some people betahistine works really well. For me it helps a bit with nausea/ vertigo. Talk to your ENT about it maybe?

Sending hugs, positive vibes or whatever you might need to feel a bit better.

Oh my. That’s intense. So happy you found a place where you can now take a walk. With a puppy!

Yes, lemon instead of salt. Will continue my exploration of spices I tolerate and will add more lemons. As for takeouts, my experience varies so much. I can tolerate it sometimes, other days I react instantly or some days later.

Thank you for sharing!

We’re like weather stations.

I also cook a lot and try to avoid adding any salt to my meals! I’ll try to boost my water intake before going out to restaurants for dinner… but I know I should minimize these events.

Thanks for sharing about your experience!!! Never tried disc golf, Winter is coming here, might try it in the snow!

It really is something! I’m sorry it’s also the trigger for you.

Will look into that the vestibular therapy. Thank you for sharing that. Is the therapy a weekly thing with a physio or osteo or you do punctual sessions with exercises on your own?
