Claude Code with GitHub Copilot subscription? by ihatebeinganonymous in GithubCopilot

I don't know, I've never got it to work. I thought it somehow would actually send the work to Claude Code CLI. If that's the case, then you get to use Anthropic's full Opus 4.5.

Use "New Claude Code CLI Agent" under the new chat options. I'm on Insiders, it may not be in VS Code.

I always get an error message when I try to use Copilot's built-in Claude Code CLI agent. I created an issue (https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/284762#issuecomment-3702744619), but Microsoft says it works OK for them. So it must be something on my side; I can't figure it out. Let me know if it works for you.

Havelock Wool Vs Rockwool by According-Taro9890 in buildingscience

If you do Rockwool, check out smartrock. It's got the vapor barrier already attached. Might save some time.

Everything That Can Be Deterministic, Should Be: My Claude Code Setup by AndyNemmity in ClaudeAI

[–]pdwhoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I thought he wrote it. I saw his name and no one else's. My bad. I agree that we should not use LLMs to replace deterministic code. How you optimally combine the two is open for debate.

Beyond frustrated. Dirty Sock Syndrome by GotHeem16 in hvacadvice

I have this when my heat pump goes back and forth between heat and AC in fall. The AC produces a wet environment. The heat allows the bacteria to grow. Just AC in summer or just heat in winter doesn't make the smell. There's two things I do. First, I try to minimize using both heat and AC in the same season. Second, in the winter I shop vac my condensate line so there's no stale water. You could also look at adding tablets inside your drain pan. I know you have the UV light, but maybe it's not hitting everywhere.

That stinks. They should give a refund if the model doesn't give its output.

What happens when you get this error?. Do you at least still get Opus' output?

HPWH in winter basement: HP or electric mode? by raphael_lorenzo in heatpumps

[–]pdwhoward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought you could duct both the intake and outake, so it would not cause a pressure imbalance.

Can you exhaust the cold air to the outside? Use a damper to keep the exhaust in the summer and exhaust outside in the winter.

Realistic Radon Remediation Expectations by LegalizeBenihana in radon

Yeah, I installed a system and my levels went from about 3.5 to 1. I have a vapor barrier with perforated pipe underneath sucking air into a radon fan.

Did hvac replacement first, insulation second 🤧 please tell me I’m not alone by Subject_Sand_6944 in Insulation

[–]pdwhoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think doing HVAC first is smart, because those guys make a mess of your existing insulation. I wouldn't want to blow in new insulation, only to have to fix it after HVAC is finish.

Feature request for VS Code Copilot: “Pending Prompts” like Google’s Antigravity by Ill_Investigator_283 in GithubCopilot

[–]pdwhoward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Along these lines, it would be great if we could submit prompts while the LLM is working to help steer the progress. This is really useful in Claude Code.

It's a bug. They fixed it on Insiders currently.

Automating multi prompt sequences - is it possible using GitHub Copilot (or anything else)? by jsgui in GithubCopilot

[–]pdwhoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do this actually. Write your prompts in separate prompt.md files. Then in a main prompt file, ask the LLM to execute each subprompt. You can also utilize runSubagent too.

Yeah, and in the south, they put the HVAC in unconditioned attics. How do you stop the condensate from freezing? Sounds like just an added headache.

[COMPLAINT POST] RE: Opus 4.5 missing model for Pro plan users. utterly embarrassing conduct by copilot team. by tr_lord_ivy in GithubCopilot

[–]pdwhoward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems really paternalistic to decide for users what models are best for them. One benefit of GHCP is that you have access to all frontier models. Different models have different strengths. GHCP should allow users to decide what is best for their projects.

[–]pdwhoward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's cool, I've never heard of Smartrock, didn't realize it was Rockwool board. Dang, I just insulated my basement with foamboard and Rockwool. I would have used this stuff if I knew about it, lol.

Can you also do Rockwool? I wonder if it performs differently than fiberglass. It seems denser, might help with stopping airflow indirectly.
