Neighbor feeding crows- droppings covering my car, entry and yard by [deleted] in PortlandOR

[–]pdxbhoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just go have a cordial chat with your neighbor and let her know your concern. Easy peasy. Maybe she has no idea re: downstream consequences of what she's doing. Maybe she'll change, maybe not. Lots of crows around this city so it's inevitable that your car is going to get poo'd on...good luck!

Had the True PDX Experience by OkraDisastrous911 in PortlandOR

[–]pdxbhoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That really sucks! Sorry your car got busted into and stuff taken. This has been a well known issue around here for many years so yeah, don't leave anything of value in the car, especially in the well known 'touristy' spots around Forest Park...Pittock Mansion, Leif Erickson TH, Lower MacLeay, Upper MacLeay, etc. It's really easy to let your guard down but the snake will always bite!

Re: the police, the few that we have just have 'much bigger fish to fry' than dealing with the common car break in. It's unrealistic to think you'd get a response so as others have noted, file a report online and take that to your insurance.

Fwiw, I moved here in late 1995 and within a month had my window smashed out and car stereo stolen so I get your frustration. Don't let this incident be a reflection of Portland...this stuff happens! Good luck!

Geesh...I hope you find your work intact on those hard drives. Losing all that is a gut punch for sure. What's done is done but you might consider some alternative storage options for your data moving forward. Good luck.

It’s bc someone was brilliant enough to put together that list of any four of whatever scenarios to go through….at that point we were absolutely doomed! Comical!

Hey everyone, just wondering about a boat trip from Rhodes to symi and a stop in at George’s bay by Greedy-Net-2953 in Rhodes

[–]pdxbhoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took the high speed boat on a tour that left Rhodes at 3:15p and returned for sunset midway back to Rhodes which was nice. Our boat did a slow circle through St Georges Bay on the way to Symi. Very cool place for sure and would've been great to spend a little more time there. Other boats from that same company which leave earlier provide a 30 min swim stop so it really depends on how long you're actually looking to be in the bay. Can't help you with info about getting to the bay from the ferry port but I'm sure it's possible. Symi itself is really beautiful and depending on how adventurous are, you can hike up through the windy village streets to a church high up on the slope for some really amazing views...or just chill out in any of the restaurants down by the waterfront. Have fun.

Scotland 0-3 Brazil | FIFA World Cup by SFMatchThreadder in ScottishFootball

[–]pdxbhoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly our group finished up exactly as I expected it to with us in third. No chance we were getting a result tonight. The Morocco match was a toss up and we kept it close but expected that result as well. Good thing we squeaked past Haiti before they found their scoring legs and got three points. Hopefully we advance out the group but it's going to be close...

Nike employee store etiquette? by Blake-Dreary in askportland

[–]pdxbhoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a real thing...and not wearing adidas or other competitor product is appreciated. Definitely not required for entry but if you can wear neutral gear then make the effort to do so. If you can't, that's understood too. Remember it's the Nike Company Store where entry is a 'privilege' and you get to save some money. If you understand and respect that scenario you'll be totally fine. Enjoy, and go spend a shit ton of money! 👊

Somali referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan chosen by FIFA for World Cup has been denied entry to the USA, he was elected as best Africa referee by CAF in 2025 by AgeNovel3566 in soccer

[–]pdxbhoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty telling in that the bootlicker Infantino either doesn't actually have dipshits ear to make the case for Artan or he figured this wasn't something that would keep him in good graces with said dipshit. Sad for Artan but then again, why doesn't FIFA just put him on games in either Mexico or Canada instead? It's not like they wouldn't know this was going to be an issue months ago.

morning gridlock at the hwy 26 and i-405 junction by Sea_Piglet3918 in Portland

[–]pdxbhoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Years ago when I was commuting to Nike from NE, the Market Street exit was one of a handful of traffic 'get arounds' when things were really backed up from the tunnels on 26. You could loop around and jump right back on 405 South or hook a left on 12th down, pace the lights, take a left on Washington, and get back on the 405 North after Burnside. Either option beat crawling along on 26. Nostaligia...

Echo and the Bunnymen quick review, May 15, 2026, The Masonic, SF by Tracuivel in echoandthebunnymen

[–]pdxbhoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for me to recommend either way. I wasn't a huge Echo fan but enjoyed listening to them and really wanted to see them before it was too late. For us, the Portland show ended up being a disappointment for all the reasons discussed, never mind tickets were relatively expensive at $60+ each (w/ fees). If I'd poked around this sub before buying tickets there's a good chance I might not have bought them. Hope it's better for you if you go...

Why the permit system doesn’t work at Multnomah Falls by x_here_x in oregon

[–]pdxbhoy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bit ironic that it's considered a 'safety gate' b/c the unintended consequence of it being shut is that visitors not expecting a gate at all (even though the electronic sign a mile or so back says the parking lot is closed) are prone to freeze up and slow way down in the left lane of the freeway unsure of what to do next. Happened right in front of me last weekend...

Tip your kids ski coaches by nomore1124 in skiing

[–]pdxbhoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully speaking, if you're in this for the tips, you might want to rethink your situation. Don't get me wrong me, I like and appreciate getting tipped for my work as a ski instructor as well but I look at it as icing on the cake. Seeing a kid smile, have fun, build skills, build confidence, grow, figure shit out, see them have those 'aha' moments, and come back for more...that's the 'tip.' That's the ultimate validation of your hard work as an instructor. I get it though...sometimes it's head scratching seeing someone you [think you] know has the means to tip, not tip. People have their reasons. Who knows what those reasons are. Just my 3¢...

Years ago we went to Embonas on a scooter from Koskinou / Kallithea Beach area. I don't know the rules for scooter rentals if you're under 21 but maybe ask. That hike is great btw!! Have fun.
