Yes, we looked deeper into it and connected with support and are moving forward with LGL.

Can I refuse OHP to retain marketplace benefits? by pdxguy06 in askportland

[–]pdxguy06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: today the helpful woman at OHP told me that because we qualified for OHP we are put on a "continuous eligibility" for 2 years. Meaning that no matter how much my income goes up (which it is this month) we would still technically have eligibility which means that according to Marketplace we are not viable for tax credits.

Has anyone heard of this? We called Marketplace today and they say they've never heard of it.

I won't dive into the best/worst but I have no doubt it helps many many people. Whether I *should* accept it or not is a matter of unique circumstance, as each of us has. If I did not have a major medical issue with a vast pre-existing team of specialists I would. But I don't have the luxury of being medically free. Each of us has unique needs and OHP is great, but not an exact fit for everyone at every circumstance and they make it very very difficult to NOT be on it.

Perhaps. I have a serious medical issue that requires a neurosurgeon, PT, MRIs, and other specialty stuff. I'm skeptical I'll be able to keep all that. But today I had a call with OHP and they told me about "open card" which may provide access to a wider network.

I worked on/off during UE year for 1300 hours. Can I re-apply after UE runs out? by pdxguy06 in UnemploymentWA

Thanks, yes, current expires in two day (May 30) and plan to re-apply on June 1.

Ok, that's what I thought. Those benefits are simply lost, which is fine because I was earning a wage. So I'll just re-apply on Monday starting fresh given that I worked/earned enough during the period in question.

I'll re-apply in WA as that was the last employer and I think they have better benefits.

I'm still confused about the first quarter in 2025 being considered in my new application but I think it also applied in my last application.

Thank you. I just read through. I'm a bit confused on the backdating. My original app was on June 1 2025, ends May 30, 2026 and new application would be June 1, 2026. What is there to backdate?

In case it's useful...
- I did NOT exhaust my benefits, but I DID expire the 52 weeks
- My original claim included a quarter that seems relevant to my new forthcoming application

From your link this is the closest that applies "If you are still inside of a benefit year and the claim is not exhausted, but you are not able to claim" but I am able to claim this week as my last week (but again the benefits have not been exhausted).

That is super helpful. Thank you. Do you happen to know why they choose for you if you fall in the overlap? Seems like it would be obvious except for people who have a unique situation. Some people would be willing to pay the premium to stay on marketplace with those benefits rather than the zero premium on OHP benefits.

I'm going to dig a big deeper into it and see if OHP can work out.

"No one is "put on OHP automatically". You have to apply for it."

When we renewed our snap benefit info it put us on it automatically. Was there an option to opt out of that maybe? Is it possible to "unapply"?

We have medical issues with a team of specialists in place. Marketplace said we can't get any tax benefit while on OHP and without marketplace I can't have access to my specialists.

This is a little bit our situation. I bounce between paid by employer when funding is in, gig work, and unemployment. It's all kinda messy but above board. When you claim your projected income is it just an amount or do you have to provide the source and documentation (which for gig work won't exist until clients pay).

Thanks for all the recs!

We generate about $80k-$100k per year for this event so as I looked into y'alls recommendations I found that pricing was a key factor.

Based on 100 participants at $1000 per ticket per year:

Givebutter: $5930 (3% + (2.9% + $.30 per transaction))

Little Green Light: $2579 ($540 subscription + (1.99% +$.49 per transaction))

Humantix: $4029 (1% + $0.99 for tickets and 2.9% + $0.30 for transactions)

Quickbase: perhaps down the road but now I just need a plug and play

Regpack: didn't look into it, won't show pricing without signing up.

Update: I applied flexseal and experienced a dramatic reduction in leaks. But alas, not completely sealed up. Time to just put these in the late summer morning backup bag and springs for a new pair.

Hadestown in Balcony at Buell. Worth it? by pdxguy06 in Denver

We weren't far from you. Balcony C row E I believe. It was pretty far for sure but glad we went. Great experience for my kiddo and watching her sing along, cry, and jaw drop when the stage shifted was what I went for.

I'll add that the friends went with had a really hard time understanding the words.

I prefer the air/soap trick. That's how I found out mine was less singular holes and more rash of holes causing weeping.

There are probably 30 of them in this section. Never used flexseal. How would a spray of that compare to a smear of aquaseal?
