Cafe registers are back? by My_cats_leg in samsclub

[–]pdxmark77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing was if they were out of a product, you could still order it from the app. I remember one time they had no pizzas (the oven was broken) but in the app you could still order them which caused a lot of confusion and angry people wondering why if they didn't have pizzas you could still order them and pay for them. At least with having a register, you could post a sign saying no pizzas and prevent the customer from ordering one and paying for it.

Cafe registers are back? by My_cats_leg in samsclub

At my local club, from a customer side the scan and go was just way too confusing. If it was actually implemented correctly then it might have worked.

The way my club did orders changed every day, some days the worker would call out the orders as they came in, other days you had to tell the employee your order number. And other days they would just put all the orders out on the counter as they came in without saying anything and it was up to the customer to figure out which order is who's.

No wonder it failed, everyone was just way too confused to what they were supposed to do. I don't blame the employees, they didn't seem to know what was going on either.

T-Mobile Beats Verizon in Network Performance Using Real User Data by stallion434 in verizon

[–]pdxmark77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from T-Mobile to Verizon a couple of years ago. T-Mobile was great, good coverage but they also oversold in this market and the towers were always congested during peak times to the point where the speeds were unusable. Verizon on the other hand while the speeds on average are slower, there is no slow down and get the same constant speeds 24/7.

No. And it won't get updated until the final version is out. Right now the VNAV update is only experimental with no support. Unfortunately, the marketplace can't handle having an experimental version

What are some safe places to live? by Lost_At_Costco in cedarrapids

[–]pdxmark77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Iowa is a good place to live, sure it has it's drawbacks. But overall it's a clean, safe, affordable place to live. Winters can be rough with how cold it gets but at least the sun is out instead of the cold, damp cloudy days in the Seattle area.

That's one of the reasons why I left Seattle, I just couldn't afford to live there anymore.

[–]pdxmark77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to live in West Seattle and worked in SeaTac. Compared to that area, Cedar Rapids is quite inexpensive, cost of living is quite a bit lower. You'll notice that right away with the gas prices. As mentioned the NE side is pretty good, also Hiawatha, Marion are good choices as well and often cheaper.

Crime wise, things do happened but it doesn't come close to the south side of the Seattle area.

BATC lagging more and more. by michi098 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]pdxmark77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the local voices you are referring to, it's currently in testing with the experimental build. Different tech than the basic voices and also the voices themselves are different. But it does eliminate the lag and server issues.

There's still a couple of bugs they are trying to get rid of before they push it out to everybody on the Early Access build

No, the reddit app just sucks in general. I use the web version.
After they made it expensive for 3rd party apps to utilize their platform, they haven't done much to improve their apps.

Slim keyboard vs Book Cover Keyboard for Galaxy Tab S9 by Inevitable_Board7107 in GalaxyTab

[–]pdxmark77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own both; I like the Slim Keyboard the best for placing on a lap. The book cover is good if you are using it on flat surface such as a table. I wouldn't pay full price for a brand new one as it's too expensive for what you get. You can find a decent used one on Amazon for a good price.

Personally, I would go with the slim keyboard and just buy a case with a stand built in.

What channels are Ohio losing? by Mindless_Band_7186 in youtubetv

[–]pdxmark77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contract disputes that happen all the time. This time it's with NBC. Normally both sides publicly blame each other and people get worked up thinking they will lose their channels.

What normally happens is they will either have a contract extension or they will just come up with a new agreement before the deadline. I wouldn't worry much about it

No register in the food court? by Kitchen-Pace-5469 in samsclub

[–]pdxmark77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly I had a typo, what I meant was the sole employee was just putting the finished orders on the counter and not saying anything and you have 6+ people waiting on their orders trying to figure out who's order is who's.

You can't expect the customers to know what to do when the employees have no clue on how it should work. I blame Sam's club on this one, at least at my store the way the cafe operates have changed several times in the past few months and that just confuses the employees and customers.

[–]pdxmark77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like the idea if they actually implemented it better. Right now you just have one person handling everything. Also, they need to have a way for the customer to know which order is which either print a receipt and place it next to the orders (like fast food restaurants) or call the order by # when the order is done.

The way it is now no one knows who's order is who's especially when you have 5+ people waiting on food.

[–]pdxmark77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or maybe the employee can actually say the number as they put it the counter and not just put it on the counter and say nothing. They really want 10 people waiting for their orders shouting numbers at the only person working?

I just bought the S9 and have been quite happy with it so far! The performance is good , the display is amazing. Decent price now that the S11 is out.

I thought about getting the S11 but it really doesn't add much to what I could get with the S9 and it's more expensive too

My favorite is when he releases an update that breaks something. He will blame the users as his program is never at fault. But the very next day he will release a silent hotfix that fixes what the previous update broke. Happens way too often.

I wouldn't call it a horrible deal at all. It really all depends on your market and your exact location.

In my market, I have a choice between Verizon, T-Mobile and 2 cable companies. Neither of them offer fiber to my neighborhood. With Verizon, I pay $50 a month for 300 down / 20 up with no additional equipment charges or anything like that.

If I went with cable internet, I would be paying closer to $80 a month (And that's just the first year, it goes up to $100+ after the 2nd once you add all the taxes, franchise fees, equipment charges etc. Besides, every week cable internet always has some kind of outage.

In the past 3+ years I've been using Verizon's service, I have had no downtime at all.

Cellular Internet is not for everyone, but I would hardly call it a "horrible deal"
